The Opening Act

Club President Tom Hanson called the meeting of March 13, 2017 to order.

With Jonathan Turner absent, the group went rudderless in terms of entertainment.  But, Daryl Empen managed to carry us in song.

A number of activities were mentioned.  First, we were informed that the next Inter-Club will be next Wednesday the 22nd at noon in Kewanee.  Contact Steve Schroeder if you would need a ride to the "Hog Capital of The World."

For those of you who really like pork, this Saturday the Kewanee Club will be holding its Annual Pancake Day.  Oink!

April 2nd, the Moline Club will be giving a shot at holding its own Pancake Day.

For the First Day Program, the group did have helpers, but it is pretty certain that when we get around to distribution of winter over-clothes, more help will be needed.

The next food distribution and truck loading will be held on March 22nd.

Steve Andich gave us the updated report that approximately 600 dozen roses have already been accounted for.

Guests included members of the Bettendorf Inter-Club, who will be holding their first trivia night on March 24th.

Liz gave us the mournful results of the Bowl-a-Thon, informing us that not did we finish behind Moline, but also the Club that is known for their "Hog Capital" thing.

In Fun and Fellowship, Jerry Upchurch celebrated his return from California by winning the preliminary prize of $4.00, which he graciously donated back to the Club.  His ticket went back into the basket and wouldn't you know, it was pulled for the bottle of wine prize!

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by our own David Levin, Commercial Realtor with Ruhl & Ruhl.  His presentation focused on results of the real estate market during 2016, primarily concerning commercial real estate.  He explained that market information is extremely valuable to a variety of businesses.  Solid activity locally has been helping growth.  Some of the challenges are posed by antiquated buildings, outdated facilities, lack of new property inventory and much existing, relatively modern building not situated near current growth site directions.

Upcoming Programs

March 20th      Tell Papanikolaou, Elder Abuse
March 27th      Lora Adams, Blackbox Theatre, Moline
