The Opening Act

In the absence of the Club President, Chris, first Vice President Tom called the meeting of August 8 to order. Providing the entertainment was Jonathan Turner and his band of renown.
Tom handled most of the announcements. First, he gave us a few minutes on his impressions of the District Convention, which were very positive.
Thanks were given to those who worked the various events this past weekend.
Liz reminded us of the Veterans' Stand Down coming up in about a month.
The NAMI walk was again brought to our attention. The chairman is our own Heidi Collins and the date is September 24.
Former Division Lieutenant Governor Mark Peterson also provided an update on the convention and particularly focused on the golf competition. Once again, Club golfers were notable for their showing up.
In fun and fellowship, Don Wentler won the preliminary prize which he graciously donated back to the Club. A bottle of merlot from the vineyards of Proctor & Gamble was won by Jerry Upchurch. A ticket to the Deere Classic this week went to Dale Blocklinger.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by Marla Andich and David Levin who very ably substituted for Steve Andich.
The presentation started with an excellent video of statements given by a number of individuals who gave the shared vignettes and bits of history of the Tri-City Jewish Center which had celebrated its 80th Jubilee. The presentation also went through the history and development of the Center and its position providing a social, cultural, and religious community, not only for the Jewish community, but for the area in general.
