Principal Darrell Hall To Return to STMC Classroom Next Year

STMC Begins Search For New Principal for September 2011
 Darrell Hall

STMC recently announced the bittersweet news that next year, current Principal Darrell Hall plans to step down from his administrator's position to pursue his passion, returning to teaching in the classroom and assisting with STMC's campus ministry.

The Board of Directors is beginning a broad search for a new school leader, recognizing that Mr. Hall leaves big shoes to fill and strong leadership is critical.

STMC Moves Forward With Campaign To Build New Athletic & Community Centre!

$600-Per-Family Pledge Introduced and 50 "Angels" Sought

 New Athletic Centre

An important personal letter was mailed to every STMC family in December 2010 announcing that STMC is officially moving forward with an historic $8.2 million campaign to build a stunning new athletic and community complex, featuring a 27,000-square-foot athletic and community centre with an NBA-sized double gym, a lighted artificial turf field, with new scoreboard and bleachers, and a field house.

Given some early major gifts, this longtime dream appears closer than was previously thought possible.  It is important that every current and future STMC family read this letter, which discusses:

  • Progress and funds committed to date
  • The timeline for construction
  • Introduction of a $600 Per Family Pledge to the New Facilities Fund to be included in registration materials for the 2011-2010 school year, and
  • How the start of construction hinges on a search for 50 Angels to make 5-year pledges of $2,000 to $20,000 per year
  • Volunteers to visit personally with every STMC family to discuss these plans

A copy of the letter home can be found on the Forms and Downloads for Parents page.

More information on the Admissions and Registration can be found in the Admissions pages.

More information on the Campaign For Athletics and Community can be found in the STMC Foundation pages.

Dinner Auction: Save This Date!

Friday, May 6, 2011 | Italian Cultural Centre

We are delighted to announce that the date is set for this year's Dinner Auction!  Mark your calendar and stay tuned details on tickets.

This year's gala will feature a dinner-show produced in partnership with STMC's music and drama departments, showcasing numbers from our Spring musical production "Thoroughly Modern Millie."

Like the musical, the Auction will have a "Roaring 20's" theme.  So ladies, start looking for a flapper costume and feather boa, and gents, you know you want to dress like a gangster or at least wear a fedora for one night.

More help is needed, at all levels of responsibility - from committee chairs to occasional help.

To get involved, email PA President Alice Roder at

Christmas Craft Fair A Big Success!
A Review from Craft Fair Captain Rhonda Jackson

Gingerbread House by Mary Rice GroupThe annual STMC Christmas Craft fair welcomed many visitors and shoppers on the weekend of Nov. 27 and 28.  It was a perfect weekend for a craft fair with dry "warmer" weather, a Santa Claus parade to help promote our fair and an army of parent and student volunteers to ensure the fair ran smoothly and efficiently.  Crafters new and old were very pleased with the smiling faces of the volunteers and were happy with their sales.  The STMC craft fair is the highlight event for the crafters and the 2010 craft fair did not disappoint!  New this year was our choir that sang carols in the lobby, an entire room dedicated to used books, and a very popular although short-lived popcorn machine and  sales!  The bake table sold out of baking by Sunday morning.  Many shoppers were disappointed that baking was sold out so early.
A great BIG thank you to all our volunteers:  those that came to decorate the lobby earlier in the week (wasn't the lobby fabulous looking in the evening?), all the parents who donated baking, those that helped with set up and clean up as well as the early risers who came to ensure coffee and breakfast were ready!  There are SO many volunteers, parents, and students to thank.  You are all SUPERSTARS!!

If parents who kindly offered to post lawn signs advertising the craft fair could retrieve and return the signs to the office, it would be most appreciated so that they can be revised and reused next year.

Thank you for helping to make the Christmas Craft Fair a success!

Note from STMC:  A very special thanks to Rhonda Jackson for doing her usual exceptional job of making the STMC Craft Fair a wonderful event!
