Missions Sunday
February 8, 2015
Judy Corcoran, Missions Committee Member

Knollwood Community Church will be celebrating Missions Sunday on February 8, 2015.  KCC members will have an opportunity to Meet & Greet our missionaries that are supported by our church family from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in the church Fellowship Center.  Please join us for a light breakfast and snacks as we visit.

Community Groups are also encouraged to join us and have the opportunity to Meet & Greet our missionaries.  This will allow you time to visit and get to know them on a more personal level.

During the Missions Sunday Service, three (3) of our own Knollwood Community Church members who have gone into the mission field will be speaking:  Joe Summers, Michele Bedker and Jimmy Dempsey.  You do not want to miss this service!

Katie Conaway, Children's Ministry Director

Did you ever want to get involved with Children's Ministry, but did not want to  take on a lead role? Have we got the jobs for you!  There are two areas that the families of Knollwood could really use your support:
  1. Volunteering once a month (either on first or fourth Sundays) to assist with our Kids Connection Program.  Kids Connection is for children in Kindergarten through Grade 3.  We already have leaders for these Sundays, but we could use a few extra hands to assist the teachers.
  2. Volunteer to help provide childcare for Community Groups.  The Conaway Community Group that meets on 2nd and 4th Sunday nights at the church is in need of some volunteers to help provide childcare from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.  Whether you can help out one time, or several times, your help would be so very much appreciated!

If you are interested in serving in either one of these roles, please contact Katie Conaway ([email protected] or 703-425-2068 x28).

Men's Pot Luck Breakfast     Saturday, February 21

All men (to include teens/sons) are invited to attend our next Men's Pot Luck Breakfast on Saturday, February 21 from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. in the Knollwood Community Church Fellowship Center.  In addition to great food and fellowship, we will hear a challenging message from our guest speaker Tom Joyce.  Tom is  the Pastor of Discipleship and Family at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, Virginia.

Tom is a graduate of the Naval Academy, former Top Gun Aviator, and served over twenty (20) years in the U. S. Navy, including surviving the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, which included his office. Sign up in the KCC Worship Center foyer to attend the breakfast and/or bring food, or contact Bob Thomas ([email protected]) or Jeff Poli ([email protected]).

Women's 2015 Spring Retreat
March 6-8, 2015
The Westin Dulles Hotel in Herndon, VA
(We have been invited to join the Immanuel Bible Church Women's Ministry.)

This year's retreat theme is "Splash the Living Water: Knowing Him and Making Him Known." We all have busy schedules and some days we feel lucky enough just to make it through the day. But what if God has a greater vision for our lives? He wants us to not just survive - but to thrive! Join us as we study John 4 and learn how to Splash the Living Water by looking at Jesus and his example. Like Christ, we want to live intentionally, making Him known in our daily lives. Let's learn how to overflow with the fullness of His joy and make Him known to those in our unique spheres of influence so that they, too, can experience the hope and refreshment of His living water. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'  (John 7:38)

Register through Immanuel Bible Church (IBC) and write "Knollwood Community Church attender" in the comments/church home section.  Optional to stay at hotel or commute from home.  Early bird registration ends January 28, 2015. Registration options:
  1. Online at http://immanuelbible.net/womens-ministry/women-s-retreat
  2. Mail form and payment to Immanuel Bible Church - brochures are available at Knollwood at the Information Table in the Worship Center foyer.
  3. In person at the Immanuel Bible Church bookstore in Springfield.
*If you are planning to attend, please also sign up at the Information Table in the Knollwood Worship Center foyer (even though you register through IBC), so you can be notified of updated information for KCC women. P.S. Sandy Rogers (KCC attender) will be leading a "yoga" session at the retreat!

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Author and dynamic speaker Esther Burroughs will be the featured speaker for the conference. Esther is the director of the Esther Burroughs Ministries: Treasures of the Heart. She has traveled all over the world sharing her heart for God with churches, mission groups, retreats and conferences. Her wisdom and years of walking with the Lord will provide us with a deep understanding and practicality of what it looks like to be overflowing with Christ's hope and love. Esther has also authored several books, including Empowered: A Garden Path to Mentoring, Splash the Living Water, Treasures of a Grandmother's Heart, and Engraved by Grace: Creating a Legacy of Faith for Your Children.
