Throughout my life, I have had several people ask me what it sounds like to hear from the Lord.
And I could tell them how it sounded for me. How God spoke to me. How He communicated with me. And it was in a few certain, very specific ways.
Until.
Until I started on this deeper journey with God. This journey of: God, I want to know You. I want to know all the ways You speak. I want to experience every facet of who You are.
And what has happened...what is happening...is that God is answering!
And what I'm learning, is that He is so much bigger, so much more multi-faceted than I ever realized!
And the ways He used to communicate with me, He doesn't use as much anymore.
Why?
I liken it to how, when you're getting to know someone, first you communicate in one or 2 specific ways or over 1 or 2 specific topics. Maybe you only talk at work. Or maybe you only talk about sports.
But as you grow in your friendship and understanding of each other, as you mature in your relationship, you find out more and more about them.
And soon, you can pick out their voice from a crowd. You know how how they think. You know how they speak. You know how they sing or laugh or dance or walk. You can see them from behind and know it's them. You can see them walking across the street or driving in their car and know it's them.
Why? Because you know them.
And the same is true in your relationship with the Lord. You can come to know Him so well, that you can recognize His voice anywhere. You can come to know Him so well, that you can recognize His movements, His heart. How He speaks. How He thinks. How He walks and talks and laughs and sings.
Yes, God wants you to know Him so well, to experience Him so often, every day, in every moment, that you would know that you would know when He speaks, when He moves. When He calls, invites, beckons and draws. When He whispers sweet words of love and affection. When He graciously gives words of direction.
Yes, your Heavenly Father, your God, your Papa, Your Daddy, wants to be known by you.
He wants to be known by you!
Not sure where to start? You can start with this simple prayer and make it your own: Lord, I open my ears to hear Your voice. Would You speak to me, in any way you choose. I want to see You. I want to hear You. I want to experience You. Thank You!
...the sheep recognize His voice and come to Him. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. After He has gathered His own flock, He walks ahead of them, and they follow Him because they know His voice. They won't follow a stranger; they will run from [a stranger] because they don't know his voice. I am the Good Shepherd; I know My own sheep, and they know Me, just as My Father knows Me and I know the Father. from John 10:1-18 NLT
I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn't confide in his slaves. Now you are My friends, since I have told you everything the Father told Me. John 15:15 NLT
The LORD confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them. Psalm 25:14 NIV
There's a private place reserved for the lovers of God where they sit near Him and receive the revelation-secrets of His promises. Psalm 25:14 TPT
