At the beginning of Jeremiah's ministry, the word of the Lord came to him.
The word of Lord. Came to him. Revealing his purpose. Revealing his destiny.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
The word of the Lord, to Jeremiah! He was known. He was set apart. He was appointed.
I remember the day this passage first came alive to me.
Yes, I had read it before. But on that day, at that point in my journey of growth, in my journey of faith, in my journey of purpose and destiny, those words took on a new meaning.
It was as if God was speaking directly to me:
"Before I formed
you
in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set
you
apart;
My spirit stirred!
God knew me. God set me apart. God appointed me!
And God has declared the same things about
you.
He knows
you. Before you were born, before you ever took a breath, He knew you. He planned you. He loved you.
He has set
you apart. As His. To be holy unto Himself. To be set up, as a city on a hill, to draw men to Him.
And He has appointed
you. To do good works. To go to the nations. To heal the sick and cleanse the lepers. To declare freedom for the captives and to set prisons free!
Yes, God knows you. He loves you. And He has
amazing
purpose for your life!

God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing. Ephesians 2:10 NCV
You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don't hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house.
In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 NCV
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. Isaiah 61:1-2 NIV
