Nutrition Seminar with

Katie Merriman MS, RD 
  Katie is a San Francisco based Registered Dietitian rooted in the idea that food is meant to be loved and celebrated. It powers our everyday life from the inside out. Katie encourages clients to find their own healthy relationship with food so that it adds to your life instead of distracts from it.

Join Katie for an hour long Nutrition Seminar on Saturday 22 April 2017. The seminar will start straight after Saturdays class is FREE and for Kokoda Members Only.

Located only six miles from downtown Salinas near the town of Monterey, Toro Park is a vast, sprawling venue covering almost 5,000 acres. With punishing hills, fields and prairies as well as many picturesque wooded areas, it’s easy to understand why this venue is a favorite amongst Spartans.

This course’s terrain is so diverse that it was initially a Beast in the early days of Spartan Race, but it packs enough punch to easily host a grueling Super.

Spartan Race is coming back to San Francisco in 2017.

The Reebok Spartan Sprint: This is our shortest distance. It is perfect for athletes of all levels; from Spartan first timers to seasoned racers. The 3-5 Mile Sprint may be our shortest distance but it packs more than 20 Signature Spartan Obstacles. If you think you can’t do it, you’re wrong. Get to the starting line and show yourself what you are capable of.


Are you ready to take your fitness training to the next level? Are you looking for more than just your standard fitness program? Do you want to learn fundamental skills usually reserved for the military while you undergo a physically demanding unconventional fitness program?

Training can be conducted as a stand alone program or in addition to your current Kokoda membership. Course duration is 6 weeks and a combination of physical training and online learning modules.

What do you like most about coaching?

Helping people to challenge themselves and feel great about their progress - sometimes just a small tweak in the way someone is performing a movement can help them in leaps and bounds, or a shout of encouragement can boost a person enough to keep going when they wanted to give up.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Perth, Western Australia, and lived there for almost 18 years until I moved to the east coast of Australia (in search of the big city life!)

What Countries have you lived in?
So far Perth, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore, and now San Francisco! It's been a crazy ride.

What is your favorite cheat meal?
Popcorn! And peanut M&M's. That counts as a meal right?

What is your favorite training style?
Lifting heavy things

What's your biggest nutrition tip?                  Eat more 'real food' - you know the stuff that comes out of the ground or off a tree or used to be alive ... sticking to that as a philosophy would dramatically shift a lot of people's relationship to food for the better! (Except for popcorn and M&M's of course - they're ok).
