October's tzedakah recipient is Hero House.
HERO House provides rehabilitation and employment programs for adults living with mental illness. These services facilitate their recovery through increased Hope, greater Empowerment, meaningful Relationships, and abundant Opportunities. At HERO House, they welcome members who are recovering from mental illness such as depression, anxiety, bipolar and schizophrenia - and help them rejoin their communities. Donate online or at Friday night or Saturday morning services.

Torah Study this week will cover Noach.

A Torah Service will follow Torah Study.  All are welcome to attend.
This week with Rabbi Kinberg

The holy days were fantastic this year. Thank you to all who helped make our commemorations and celebrations filled with meaning and life. Now that the holiday season is over we are ready to jump into our season of learning. Religious School is up and going. Torah Study is stronger and larger (people-wise) than ever. And we have two new learning groups starting up this Shabbat.

Our Jewish History Havurah will be an on-goog monthly exploration of Jewish History and Civilization. We will uncover our origins from not just a historical perspective but also sociological and anthropological perspectives. No need to register. Just come to learn and discuss who we are as a people and how we got here. We will meet at 5pm this Shabbat at Kol Ami. Bring a nosh to share!

Source Book: A History of the Jews by Paul Johnson

We are also hosting women's monthly Friendship Circle and Rosh Chodesh group. We are going to take on a book of daily study and then meet monthly to share our reflections and learnings. Our source book for this group is The Jewish Book of Days by Jill Hammer. This Shabbat at 7pm.

We are also starting a havurah for members who want to work to combat racism and bigotry in our society. I will be discussing our dates, times and possible actions in next week's HaKol. Text me if you are interested in being a part of this working group:360-280-5372

Many blessings for a year of learning and growth.
