growing with each new opportunity - fine tuning what you do daily to fit more with your own personal missions in life. Well, one of my goals for some time now has been to help others around me be more healthy.  I am at the tail end of a 30 day alcohol free challenge that I'm doing with some fitness people and I've grown quite attached to something that is VERY good for you, too...Kombucha! You've probably seen me carrying it around in my cooler bag! It is a non-alcoholic*, black/green tea LOW SUGAR drink that is loaded with probiotics and tastes great! I now distribute this organic, locally brewed in small batches, drink to our local establishments! I noticed it wasn't available at bars and restaurants, felt it should be, and am now part of Fairport Brewing Company to make this happen! Please look for Kombucha to be available locally where you see these posters and I'll keep you updated here too! It has always been exciting for me to bring something to the mainstream that wasn't (this newsletter, drop-in fitness, Salsacise, etc) so here we go! If you are a business owner who wishes to carry this fine (refrigerated) beverage, email me back or text (585) 298-0116! People will start to ask for it.  It is detoxifying (anti-oxidants help with immunity, too), energizing (B12), and tastes great! And, yes, it can be mixed with wine, beer and champagne...So you can feel good, too, when you do imbibe! :) Cheers!
Peace & Blue Skies, Donna Bennett

Plein Air Nocturne oil painting with national acclaimed artist Keith Gunderson
This is an exciting and increasingly popular motif for the plein air painter today. The evocative way electric light illuminates the landscape creating abstract masses and how color and reflection are heightened all contribute to increased sense of drama and mood. An exciting painting style that depicts scenes evocative of the night or subjects as they appear in a veil of light, in twilight, or in the absence of direct light. Recommended for students with oil painting experience.

Vitamin C and the role it plays in our health
Have you ever been told to find a source of vitamin C to consume when you feel sick or weak? According to studies by the Mayo Clinic taking Vitamin C appears to reduce the duration of a cold. Vitamin C, often called Ascorbic Acid, gives the immune system a "boost "of energy and help to ward off colds.

Vitamin C is essential to the body in many different ways. It is good for the skin. It is also very important in the structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments and bone. Also it plays an important role in brain cell function. It even plays a role in helping convert fat to energy.
How much do you need? Recommended guidelines vary from 40 milligrams to 1000 milligrams. Men need at least 90 milligrams daily and women need at least 85 milligrams. To get Vitamin C consider dietary sources such as citrus, kiwi, papaya and kale. If you don't get it from dietary sources consider taking Vit C in a pill form.

Stop in to Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe and find out how our pharmacy can help you.

WARD 4 City Council Member Candidates and three things they wish to accomplish!
1. Dan Lynch - Republican. I am running because I wish to...

*ensure the safety of our residents by looking into our current fire department as well as any potential shared services programs with our surrounding communities.

*open our community to new ideas and rethink our current out dated zoning laws. By opening up some of these laws and loosening regulations we can really work to revitalize our Main Street.
*lower taxes by approaching our spending with a conservative mindset. I will spend where it's fiscally responsible and makes sense.
Meet Dan and the other Republican candidates at Twisted Rail on Thurs, Oct 26th, 6-8pm!
2.Renee Sutton-Democrat. I am running because I wish to...
*Increase shared services between the city, town and county, particularly for safety services
*Explore feasibility of utilizing vacant downtown storefronts as pop-up retail spaces for local crafters, artisans, or other entrepreneurs.
*Investigate new strategies for improving rates of home ownership, like shared equity programs and home improvement/maintenance grants.
Meet Renee and the other Democrat candidates Thurs, Oct 19th, 6-8pm at Rio Tomatlan!
