Claire Cooper Marcus will present a lecture today, "Green Spaces and Public  Health: Restorative Landscapes in Healthcare and Beyond," at 4:00 pm in the Little Theater. The lecture is co-sponsored by the departments of Landscape Architecture, Horticulture and Architecture.

OUR CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Assistant Professor Huston Gibson attended the KS APA Spring Symposium April 21-22 in Wichita, KS as part of the KS APA Executive Committee.

Assistant Professor Brent Chamberlain presented  "Envisioning Place, Knowing Space" at the University of Texas as part of his Big 12 Faculty Fellowship on April 22 in Austin, TX. The presentation featured student work from  Parker Ruskamp, Ryan Albracht and Kraig Weber.

Associate Professor Blake Belanger delivered a 1-hour videoconference presentation to the faculty and students in Research Methods in Landscape Architecture at the University of Marylandon April 20 at the invitation of Dr. Victoria Chanse. The presentation was related to his research on representing resilience. A follow-up discussion will take place on April 27.

Professor Emeritus Dennis Day received the Alton B. Thomas Award from the Prairie Gateway Chapter of the ASLA, recognizing his lifetime contributions to the profession of landscape architecture.

Global Food Systems Research Science Communication Symposium April 28, 2016. Presentations by graduate  students and post-doctoral research team members begin at 2 pm. Keynote talk by artist and National Geographic photo-essayist Jim Richardson on the Origins of Agriculture begins at 4:30 pm, Beach Museum of Art, UMB auditorium.

The Landscape Architecture Foundation Summit on Landscape Architecture and the Future will take place at the University of Pennsylvania, June 10-11, 2016. The Summit marks 50 years since Ian McHarg and other leading landscape architects composed LAF's seminal Declaration of Concern, which decried the burgeoning environmental crisis and heralded landscape architecture as critical to help solve it. Building on this legacy, this one-time historic gathering will culminate in a redrafting of the original 1966 Declaration of Concern and a landmark publication of the ideas presented. Registration is open now.

In an effort to better understand how and what digital technology is being used and taught in all of the accredited institutions nationwide, the ASLA  Digital Technology PPN  has assembled a survey to poll faculty and students. Click here to participate.
