ANNOUNCEMENTS
The fiscal year-end deadline is quickly approaching
If you are still planning to travel on this fiscal year's money, you need to do a pre-travel form right away. If you have not turned in a post travel form and receipts from a recent trip, you need to do so right away as well. If there are any other expenditures that you intend to make before July 1, it is imperative that Jody receive information about those expenditures no later than the end of the work day, Friday, June 10. After a certain date, we will no longer be able to expend funds from this current fiscal year.

Assistant Professor Hyung Jin Kim's co-authored articlesBuilt Environment Factors Influencing Walking to School Behaviors: A Comparison between a Small and Large US City and  Does a More Centrally Located School Promote Walking to School? Spatial Centrality in School-Neighborhood Settings are published in Frontiers in Public Health and Journal of Physical Activity & Health, respectively. They are available here and here.

Associate Professor Katie Kingery-Page is hosting 30+ K-6 and their teacher, Chris Yenni, from the Wakefield, KS Project LEAD Great & Groovy Garden Summer Camp today. They will visit the Meadow and stop by the summer studio.

Landscape Performance Education Grants
To help landscape architecture programs integrate landscape performance into their curriculum, LAF is offering five $2,500 mini-grants to faculty for the Fall 2016 term/semester. Participating faculty will work with LAF to develop and test models for integrating landscape performance into landscape architecture course offerings, such as research and methods, site planning and analysis, design studios, and other lecture or seminar courses. Materials developed through the grants will be shared on the Resources for Educators section of LandscapePerformance.org, ´╗┐which includes assignments, syllabi, faculty reflections, and other resources to help bring landscape performance into the classroom. Landscape performance is one of the Professional Curriculum topics in the revised 2016 LAAB Accreditation Standards.

The Beach Museum of Art is sponsoring a unique art-science conversation on the prairie on July 15, 2016! K-State rangeland researcher Carol Blocksome received a grant from the Office of the Provost to put together a day of exploration for artists and scientists. The program will be held at the Konza Prairie barn, and keynote speaker Matthew Coolidge from the Culver City-based Center for Land Use Interpretation ( clui.org) will share his experiences in the fertile zone between innovative science and engaged art practice. The Kansas APA has announced its call for sessions, presentations, and planning commissioner training proposals for the 2016 Kansas Planning Conference, which will be Oct 5-7 at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence, KS.  All proposals must be receive by June 30, 2016 at midnight, and all proposals must be submitted online. Van Alen Institute and AECOM have launched Fair Share, a student competition inviting multidisciplinary teams from around the world to apply the tools and principles of the "sharing economy" to tackle pressing urban challenges. The Transportation Research Board Committee on Landscape and Environmental Design (AFB40) is a group of Landscape Architects and other professionals working in the transportation sector. The Committee is concerned with design parameters that relate to protecting, conserving, restoring, and enhancing safe, sustainable, and livable transportation systems, facilities, and their associated environments. Click here for more information.
