Monday Memo 06.08.15

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Landscape architecture coursework has been sorted into individual folders, by course, in the KSOL LAAB Accreditation 2015 folder. Please take the opportunity to look at the work and select the pieces most appropriate for the re-accreditation electronic portfolio. To select work (and the accompanying syllabus and/or project statements), simply rename the file, substituting the appropriate information for the text in italics:  LARcourse#_FallorSpringyearHighMedorLow
Your selections should be complete today.

If you have discovered additional university property to be surplused, please let Jody know what needs to be picked up. We have unitl the end of this week to include items on a 'one form' pickup--a great opportunity that we don't want to miss.

The Fall LARCP Faculty Meeting will be held
Monday, August 17, immediately following the APDesign Faculty Meeting. We will meet 11 am until 5 pm. This is a change from meeting on Tuesday due to the university's New Faculty Orientation schedule.

OUR CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Associate Professor Lee Skabelund has published a chapter, Monitoring Abiotic Inputs and Outputs, in the recently released Springer International Publishing book Green Roof Ecosystems. Lee's co-authors are Kimberly DiGiovanni and Olyssa Starry and the book's editor is Richard Sutton. The book is available here and will be released in hardcopy next month.

Associate Professor Katie Kingery-Page presented "Landscapes for Art: Why we need the landscape idea" at the Wichita Art Museum on June 3. She was invited to make the presentation as WAM prepares to open a new, nine-acre Art Garden designed by Confluence, Vicki Skuri and Derek Porter.

OF INTEREST

AECOM's global student competition, Urban SOS: All Systems Go, is now open and information is available here. The pre-registration of interest deadline is June 21.

The K-State Office of Research Compliance is changing research compliance training for faculty and students. ORC training for our college is most often related to IRB review/approval/exemption. The current on-line training, developed at KSU, will be replaced by subscription to a service with the acronym of CITI. Your current certification will continue until your three year period runs out (at which time you will receive notice). All faculty engaged in or supervising research involving human subjects must complete IRB training. A CITI demo is available at: http://www.citiprogram.org/citidocuments/forms/newsubs.pdf. Questions should be directed to Maggie Behnke (URCO) 2-3233 or msbehnke@ksu.edu .

All courses must be moved to K-State Online powered by
Canvas by December 31, 2015. Please take advantage of the one-on-one training and help opportunities now. To learn about Canvas training, view the training page of the Canvas website here.
