Note from Wally:

Happy Friday!

Our distribution of "The Briefs" is moving to more of a monthly schedule starting in February. So, in the meantime, I thought I would share a little good news regarding the many programs and activities associated with LCOE.

Literacy Task Force - Imagination Library

St. Helena Hospital, Clearlake has agreed to partner with LCOE, Sutter Lakeside Hospital and numerous community organizations to contribute to "Imagination Library" in support of our countywide literacy initiative. As an expression of their support, St. Helena Hospital has agreed to fund the first year contribution ($25) for the first 175 newborns and their families born at St. Helena, Clearlake.  We now have the potential to involve over 400 children and their parents in reading a "book a month" together in our first year of a five year initiative.

Thank you St. Helena Hospital!

Hey, We Went Bowling!

Thanks to all of you who made our second annual Bowling Night a huge success. We had a lot of fun, some had a few strikes, and some had a gutter ball or two, but most importantly we raised $500 for our second awarding of a scholarship for a student from one of our LCOE programs.

Thanks for all your help and support.

Mock Trial Program Receives Donation

The Mock Trial competition is gearing up for their first ever county competition. We have two teams (Middletown HS and Upper Lake HS) who will compete March 1 for the chance to compete at the state level. The Lake County District Attorney's Office has recently contributed $3,000 to offset travel cost for our winning team to compete at the state level.

A special thank you to Don Anderson!

New CBO at Upper Lake Elementary

Congratulations to Becky Jeffries on her selection as the new Chief Business Officer for the Upper Lake Elementary School District.  Superintendent, Valerie Gardner made the announcement yesterday and expressed appreciation for the support of LCOE staff in the recent transition period. We are excited for Becky and look forward to working with Becky in her new position.  The Business Office will now begin the process of filling a critical position in the Business Office team.

Congratulations, Becky!

Thanks ! Have a good week!
