One of the key elements in Collective Impact work is communication. The Collective Impact Core Group has designed this monthly e-newsletter to provide you with updates from Lenawee's Collective Impact groups. If you are interested in learning more about any of these groups, please find contact information below.

Lenawee County Collective Impact

Collective Impact is a better approach to solving community problems. It is a systematic, data driven approach to solving a complex problem that involves a community-wide group of organizations, committed to achieve:
  • A common agenda
  • Shared measurement system
  • Mutually reinforcing activities
  • Continuous communication
  • Backbone support

LENAWEE ESSENTIAL NEEDS COUNCIL

LENC Meeting highlights:
  • Lenawee County ranking high in lead exposure. Seeking a grant writer to fund a lead abatement program.
  • Share the Warmth can no longer be housed at Salvation Army. Possible site and purchase agreement signed. Still need additional funding.
  • Neighbors of Hope moving forward with Women & Children's shelter
  • Housing Study is complete
  • Handle with Care meetings planned to talk to Law Enforcement & Schools
  • Transportation issues in Lenawee - possible collaboration with DOA and CAA.
  • Integrated service delivery coming with new web portal that will assist clients with access to needed services.

Hunger Free Lenawee Meeting highlights:
  • Meet Up & Eat Up - next year reach out to schools in February. The goal is to increase usage. 
  • Pantry visits. Tool kits almost complete. Aim is to have follow up visits done by September. Community Foundation is assisting with printing and signage.
  • Lenawee Co. Fair. option available for donations of livestock to food bank, and having table on day of auction.
  • Trunk or Treat in October
  • HFL Breakfast in November

OneLenawee is a collaboration of concerned volunteers dedicated to the vision of making and keeping Lenawee County a Great Place.

LENAWEE HEALTH NETWORK

Purpose: A group of community organizations working collaboratively to improve the quality of health in our community focusing on Healthy Eating and Physical Activity; Supporting Healthy Choices and Access to Healthcare.

LHN Meeting highlights:
  • Jared Claar has transitioned positions within ProMedica.
  • Healthy Lenawee 2020 - year 4 applications have been submitted to MDHHS. Interested parties contact Frank Nagle.
  • August 19 - Lenawee Community Foundation is holding a community walking event at Adrian Farmers Market.
  • WIC - BMI data for youth can be utilized in 2017 Community Health Assessment.
  • August 12 - Breastfeeding Awareness Walk, 9 - 11am at Trestle Park. A new support group for pregnant or postpartum moms and infants & children is first Friday of each month 5pm - 7pm River Raisin Room of DHHS.
  • Tire Collection event - August 26 8am-2pm at the Fairgrounds. Old tires collect rainwater, which is a breeding ground for mosquitos.
  • 250 adultys and 132 kids attending the Splash & Dash event.

LENAWEE FINANCIAL STABILITY COALITION

Objective: to expand budgeting and saving through education, counseling, financial resources, and skill building.

LFSC Meeting Highlights:
  • Effective August Jackie Bradley will be co-chair of this group with Burt Fenby.
  • Day of Action - August 18th.
  • 7 people have rolled the mini IDA into a full IDA
  • VITA appointments for those who do not owe ongoing
  • 600 returns completed across 3 counties
  • R Rules - start at Adrian High School in September
  • Getting Ahead start two classes in Adrian in September
  • Vouchers available for Rent Smart classes after August 16
  • Money Smart Week will be in April 2018
  • Landlord group meets on the last Friday of the month at 8:15am at Family Kitchen

LENAWEE CRADLE TO CAREER
Mission: To ensure that everyone has a pathway to maximize their potential, cradle to career.

Cradle to Career Executive Commitee Meeting highlights:
  • After collecting 3 years of BRIGANCE assessment data - the Kindergarten Readiness group reported a 1% improvement from the previous two years. 51% are ready compared to 50% for previous 2 years. This year - social-emotional data was collected for 477 of the 951 students who took the BRIGANCE.
  • STRIVE is asking the partnership to be a model for continuous improvement
  • An online questionnaire was reviewed regarding the graduation coaches/success coaches we have in the county.

Collective Impact Core
Statement of Purpose:
Serve as champions of the collective impact framework and implementation in Lenawee County by ensuring groups align to reduce duplication, empower collaboration, and increase communication.

Meeting highlights :
  • Ann Knisel is retiring, she is being replaced by Nate Hamblin
  • Mini trauma trainings needed in schools
  • Handle with Care Program is being presented to the Police Chiefs
  • Engagement Center is being remodeled, they hope to open in September
  • iChallengeu students won the statewide competition
  • County Health Assessment is being prepared
  • Transportation & Opioid Epidemic added to list of emerging issues
