LES Fall Festival on October 20th - Calling ALL Volunteers!
and Donations are needed for the Fall Festival! If you are interested in helping plan the Fall Festival or in helping volunteer at the Fall Festival, please contact sign up here:
We need lots of volunteers to make this event successful! If you know any high school or middle school students who need service hours, this is a fun and easy way to earn them. We will also be collecting donations (water, individually wrapped candy, prizes, and cakes) for this fun evening. We appreciate all of your help in making this event successful!
On Tuesday, October 18th, you will find your child's grade level report card handbook and parent supplemental documents. I highly encourage you to review these documents before your conference. As a reminder,
the Lovejoy Independent School District utilizes a standards-based report card in Kindergarten to Grade 4. The standards, based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills/TEKS, describe what a student should know and be able to do at each grade level in all subjects. Behavior and work habits that support learning are also reported, but this performance is reported separate from academic performance. The purpose of the report card is to communicate with parents and students about the mastery of knowledge and skills and the behaviors and work habits that contribute to academic performance. The standards-based report card is designed to give parents, teachers, and students a clear picture of academic strengths and areas for improvement.

National Digital Citizenship Week: October 17-21
Grown-ups dread it. Kids need it. It's time to have The Talk.
having The Talk is an essential rite of passage. As parents and educators, we want to raise kids to be safe, responsible, and ethical in the digital world. Giving kids a solid understanding of how we expect them to behave -- both online and off -- starts everyone off on the right foot. Lovejoy students will participate in Digital Citizenship Week October 17-21, 2016. Activities will focus on how to be safe, think critically, and participate responsibly in our digital world. Digital literacy skills are essential for students to leverage the full potential of technology for learning. We encourage you to engage in conversations with your student about making great choices in their digital lives.
If you are unhappy with your child's pictures, please return the pictures on Thursday, October 20
. On this day, your child can have their picture retaken. If your child was absent or is new to our school, then they will also have their picture taken on Thursday. If you have any questions, please contact Erin Johnston at
. We will have our 3
graders take their pictures before they leave for their field trip.

You see it sprinkled in college catalogs, corporate mission statements, and in employee training seminars: Diversity. A
