Join the worldwide celebration of music!
Last year, over 800 cities around the world threw citywide music celebrations on June 21! It all started 36 years ago in France. In 1982, France’s Ministry of Culture dreamed up an idea for a new kind of musical holiday. They imagined a day where free, live music would be everywhere: street corners and parks, rooftops and gardens, store fronts and mountaintops. This dream has come true! Three decades later, the Make Music holiday has spread throughout the world and is now celebrated in more than 120 countries. In the U.S., the presenting sponsor of Make Music Day is the NAMM Foundation .

The Connecticut Office of the Arts is committed to growing Connecticut's Make Music Day so that one day there will be music in all 169 towns. If you would like to be involved in Make Music Day 2019 as a performer, a host venue, a coordinating organization, municipality or as an individual, please contact Adriane Jefferson at the Connecticut Office of the Arts.

The Arts Workforce Initiative (AWI) is a paid, 10-week, internship opportunity for Connecticut college students, emerging arts professionals and military veterans at Connecticut not-for-profit arts and cultural organizations. Selected host organizations receive a grant in the amount of $3,750 per intern and use 100% of the funds to pay interns at a rate of $15 per hour for a total of 250 hours.

The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) is proud to bring back the Arts Workforce Initiative (AWI) Program! AWI launched in 2017 as a pilot program placing twelve (12) interns in eleven (11) arts organizations across the State of Connecticut. Due to the enormous success of the pilot program, COA more than doubled the number of intern placements, expanded the opportunity to military veterans and opened the opportunity to be a host organization to all Connecticut not-for-profit arts and cultural organizations that could provide a hands-on and engaging internship in the arts. Twenty-nine (29) individuals between the ages of 18-40, including two veterans, and 25 host organizations will participate in the FY2018 AWI program!
For more information about the program, contact AWI Program Manager Adriane Jefferson at adriane.jefferson@ct.gov .
