Registration for the 70th annual convention of the Louisiana Forestry Association is ongoing, with an early bird deadline of Tuesday, Aug. 15.
The annual meeting is slated for Tuesday, Aug. 29 through Thursday, Aug. 31.

Great slate of speakers at 70th annual convention
The Louisiana Forestry Association 70th annual convention is set for Aug. 29, 30 and 31 and will host an interesting and informative slate of speakers.

Wednesday's technical session includes:
Candice Nichol, an associate with MGA | Michael Green Architecture in Vancouver, British Columbia, has championed mass timber projects, including the T3 multistory wooden building in Minneapolis, where she was the lead design architect for the largest modern mass timber building in the United States. She will talk about timber buildings and what's ahead.

Eric Gee, director of Expo, Lumber Products & Forest Resources for Southern Forest Products Association, supports the Southern pine export markets with education and training through the Southern Pine Council and Softwood Export Council. He will talk about marketing our southern pine timber.

James Prather, a partner of Galloway Johnson, earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law, New Orleans. He is a member of the AAMGA Governmental Affairs Committee and has devoted his practice to the representation of business and insurance interests. He will speak about the rising cost of truck insurance.

For Loggers on Wednesday:
Milana Walters, president of TM Total Consulting LLC and retired Louisiana State Police sergeant, is a trained safety auditor. During her time as a state trooper, she was assigned to the Motor Carrier Safety Unit. She also served as an inspector for commercial vehicles, certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation-Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

And Thursday morning will feature:
Loren Scott, Ph.D., president of Loren C. Scott & Associates Inc., an economic consulting firm whose clients include several Fortune 500 companies. He is a member of the National Business Economic Issues Council, which regularly holds discussions about issues of state, national and international interests and includes experts in retail trade and trucking. The professor emeritus spent 33 years at Louisiana State University, 13 of which as chairman of LSU's Economics Department. He will present his insight and take a look at the state's economic outlook.
