6TH GRADE RISING CHOIR STARS
On Monday, February 12, 2018, two of our Lake Geneva Middle School 6th Grade Choir students performed solos with the Badger High School Choirs, Band, and Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Matt Roemer in their Masterworks Concert "Calling All Dawns" by Christopher Tin. This was a great honor for 6th graders Gina S. and Brandon W. and they rose to the challenge. Gina sang the young girl solo in the 2nd song "Mado Kara Mieru" which was in Japanese.   Brandon sang the young boy solo in the 6th song "Lux Aeterna" which was in Latin. They both sang beautifully and we are so very proud of them!

MUSIC VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Dear Lake Geneva Music Families,

District Solo and Ensemble Festival is at LGMS on Saturday, March 3rd. We need many parents, grandparents, and high school/college siblings to help.

PLEASE COMPLETE the Sign-Up Genius Link listed below ASAP.

You may sign-up for whole or half days.  People that volunteer for the whole day will receive lunch in the hospitality room - and will be able to see their student perform.  Our goal is to have a full day person in every site as the rooms run smoother when there is consistency at the site. Please consider volunteering for a full day.

We will contact you in late February to confirm your part in our Festival.

How to sign up:
2. Select all of the jobs you are interested in volunteering for
3. At the bottom of the page click "submit and sign-up"
4. Change the quantity of volunteers to the number of people you are signing up
(You can sign up multiple parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.)
5. In the comments, please list all of the names (first and last) of people you are volunteering
6. If you are bringing a dish to pass, please indicate what you are bringing
7. If you sign up for soda/chips we will notify to let you know which kind to bring.

If you would like to volunteer, but do not want to complete the SignUpGenius form, please reply to Amanda Krause (LGMS band director) via email ( [email protected]), and we will include you in the schedule.

We do our best to schedule volunteers around your students performances, but with the large volume of names there can be an oversight. There will be people assigned a "floating" position to allow you leave your duty to watch your child.
It's not too late to order a yearbook! Order forms are available in the main office or by clicking this link: Yearbook Order Form

HELP FOR STUDENTS AFTER SCHOOL
Primetime is our building-wide after school student academic support program. Primetime is an opportunity for students to get extra assistance from their teachers. Students at all grade levels are assigned to stay for Primetime when they are missing 3 or more assignments or currently have an F in any class. Primetime is assigned Monday morning in homeroom when teachers go over grades with students. Students who meet the requirements are required to stay on Tuesday and Thursday until 4:15.  Our goal at LGMS is to get all students the support they need to be successful.

PARENT AND STUDENT REMINDERS
BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served starting at 7:00 a.m. The cafeteria area is only open to students purchasing breakfast.

STUDENT PICK UP: If you need to pick up your student during the day, we ask that you please send a note with your student in the morning with a time that you will be picking them up. That way we can write them a pass to hand to their teacher when it's time to leave. This avoids having to disrupt classes by calling in looking for a student.

BUS PASSES: If your student will be riding the bus home with a friend, please send a letter in the morning indicating who he/she will be going home with. We will then issue a bus pass.

LATE START: Late starts are the second Thursday of each month. On those days, school begins at 9:30 a.m. We ask that students not be dropped off earlier than 9:20 a.m. Buses run 2 hours later than normal pick up time.

LATE BUSES: Late buses run as follows:
Monday - Thursday: 3:35 p.m., 4:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Friday: 3:35 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

LATEX BALLOONS; We have students with latex allergies so please, no latex balloons.

WATER BOTTLES: Students are allowed to have water bottles during the school day - WATER ONLY. Please, no other liquids.
CHROMEBOOK CARE
Parents and Students: While we understand that accidents happen, it is important that students do their best to properly care for their chromebook. Should something happen to the chromebook, students should complete a Chromebook Repair Request form and take it, along with their chromebook, to the LMC. Click on this link to view the form and repair costs: Chromebook Repair Info

AROUND THE DISTRICT
Backpack Benefactor Project: Come support Badger High School's chapter of National Honor Society and the Lake Geneva Lions as we raise funds for the Backpack Benefactor Project. Last year we raised $1600 and furnished 84 students in the Badger High School and Joint 1 Districts with backpacks and school supplies to get the year off to a great start. This year we'd like to do even more!

Besides a breakfast of pancakes and sausage, there will be crafts for the kids, a "large item" bake sale, and a student vendor fair in the PE Center featuring student groups reaching out to the community to advertise their activities, sell merchandise, and fundraise for service projects. These vendors include: DECA , FFA, the Girl Scouts (get your cookies for the year!), Big Badger-Little Badger, Model UN/History Club, Spanish Club, the School Store, Student Council, and NHS.

The event takes place in the Badger High School Commons on February 24th from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tickets are available through an NHS member, at the Badger High School front office, the homepage for Lake Geneva Schools (click the link under Upcoming Events), and -- of course -- at the door. Adults are $8, students are $5, and children under 4 are free.

Preparing for College: Parents and Middle School/High School Students - Plan to attend this free informational meeting on Preparing for College on March 13th @ 6:00 p.m. at Badger High School. Click this link for more information: Preparing for College

Title 1 District Wide Information: Title I is a federal program that is used to work with students who would need extra assistance in reading skills. Recently, every school in the Lake Geneva School district became a School-wide Title school . Schoolwide programs allow the schools greater flexibility on how they utilize specialists in each building. Students that are identified as needing extra services in reading will still receive reading services however specialists may also be used in additional ways such as coaching, co-teaching to assist all of our students, and enhance our reading program as a whole.
