MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Guardians:

Wisconsin students in Grades 3-8 and 10 will be participating in the Wisconsin Forward assessment during the March 5 - May 20 testing window.  We will be testing on the following days:

7th grade:  April 10-12, 2017

(6th grade and 8th grade have completed testing)

The Wisconsin Forward assessment tests all students in the areas of reading and mathematics in grades 3-8.  One or more subtests may be administered daily during the identified time frame and it is very important that your son or daughter be in school during this time. Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.

Students in grades 4 and 8 will also be tested in science and social studies. Grade 10 will be participating in a social studies assessment. These tests are required by federal law.

Below is the link for an Informational Brochure for Families which gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.

https://dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/assessment/pdf/Forward%20brochure%20for%20families%202016-17.pdf

The Wisconsin Forward assessment measures the knowledge and skills your student(s) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations or placement in classes to best support your child(ren).

If you have any questions, please contact Anne Heck or Grant Strobel, LGMS Principals.

LGMS COLOR-A-THON IS OFF AND RUNNING!
Hello LGMS parents,

Your student should have brought home a packet of information regarding our upcoming LGMS COLOR RUN May 5th at 6:00 p.m.

Many of you may have heard or seen photos of this fun event and the PTO is very excited to host one at our school. The run/walk will be a one mile course on the LGMS grounds. Not only is this an exciting healthy activity, it is also a proven successful fundraiser and we hope to raise $15,000 with your help!

The easiest way for them to raise the $30 to participate is by forwarding on the event website to friends and family (http://shop.schoolathon.org/184501). All students who raise $30 will be registered in a raffle to win an inflatable lounger. There are lots of fun prizes for the kids but best of all every $30 they raise they can invite a friend or sibling to participate with them.

Our goal is to not only buy more STEM computers for the middle school but also to have a fun bonding experience for our students, teachers and community. The pledge envelopes are due Friday April 14th. Thank you in advance for all your efforts to support our middle school. Have a wonderful spring break!
