Queens Council on the Arts is pleased to announce the second year of the
Artist Commissioning Program, an innovative program that democratizes the traditional art commissioning process. This program will continue to create the next generation of art patrons by inviting Queens-based community members, or "art producers," to select four artists to receive a $10,000 commission. QCA will be holding information sessions for prospective artists and art producers, for which you can
register online.
The deadline for artists and art producers to apply is Friday, October 12th.

Get ready for Flux Factory's next 2018 Major Exhibition, Saunter Trek Escort Parade (S.T.E.P.) curated by Christina Freeman, Emireth Herrera and moira williams. Coming to Flux from September 6th-30th, S.T.E.P. seeks to be an overlapping convergence and entanglement of walking, walk-based works and programming, mobilizing throughout New York. S.T.E.P... embraces the many ways and bodies we walk while asking how walking as a creative act can challenge notions and open conversations. Member Spotlight: Queensboro Dance Festival
|
|
In a special 5th season, LICP Member Queensboro Dance Festival returns to the Hunter's Point Park waterfront with free performances by an array of Queens dance companies Thursday and Friday, September 13-14, 5:00 PM, with a special international guest performance on opening night by the Inner Mongolian Performing Arts Troupe. This is the troupe's first visit to New York City. Their performance will include Mongolian long tone and of khoomei (Mongolian throat singing), masters of the traditional horse-head fiddle, and dance forms that represent their culture of the grasslands. The Queensboro Dance Festival also offers a VIP preshow reception each night along the waterfront starting at 4:00 PM, with open bar, raffle prizes, and refreshments featuring LIC businesses. VIP tickets are $25 via Eventbrite ($30 at the door) and includes reception, exclusive seating area, prizes, and gift bag. Preview the festival schedule.
