July 2017 Volume1
Getting Ready to Race!
The Adult Novice and Experienced rowers are headed for Oakland for the SW Regionals on July 16th.
After all the hard work, late evenings and early mornings, the boats are getting faster in preparation for our first race. We have moved practices to the mornings to get better water and skip the blazing heat. Please use this Signupgenius for July Practices. The 18 rowers and coxswains will leave on Friday to drive up and then practice on Saturday afternoon before the racing starts on Sunday. We are thrilled to have Nicole Figueroa, a cox from Arizona State, here helping our Novice Men. We are entering 8 different events and all the rowers will be busy with 3-4 1000m races all in one day! "Intrepida" gets Re-Christened
After some amazing fundraising ($ 3,200) by the Experienced Women's crew, we were able to replace most of the older parts including tracks, shoes, oarlocks, seats and then we repainted the inside and made the decks really cool. This 1995 boat is ready for racing again. Scott Harris did most of the work and spent hours making sure it was perfect, so we let him pour the champagne. Thanks again to all the donors and families that helped.
Junior Rower IZI in NZ
Our die hard junior rower Isabella Fimbres was accepted to a High Performance camp in New Zealand and has been rowing twice a day in winter conditions. She will be there for a total of 5 weeks to refine her skills, learn sculling and work on getting her 2K erg score down. We can't wait to see here again on July 21st.

Stay Warm and Have Fun IZI!!
Our next Learn to Row is July 8th
Come down and try our great Sport! We hold a Learn to Row each month and the next one will be on July 8th from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. We have expanded the lesson to a full hour and a half to teach everyone how to use the ergometer and spend more time in the boat. Anyone 12 and up is welcome to come down and row. The price is $25/per person.

Summer Camps and Fall Junior Team
Summer camps and the Fall Junior Team are the priority right now. Jim and PJ have been busy getting the new marketing materials out to the public. We are talking with all the local schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, Scouts and walking around handing out flyers all over Henderson and Las Vegas.

If you have any personal contact with anyone at schools, please get in touch with us and we will follow up and meet with them. Our goal is to have 30 boys and 30 girls starting to row in the fall.
