PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
It was great to see you at Back to School Night this week! I truly appreciate you entrusting your children to us at LOMS, and your partnership and support. We have a wonderful school because of the staff, students and parents who make up our LOMS community. I would also like to thank some special folks from the district level for their support at Back to School Night, School Board Members, Chris Ungar Marilyn Rodger and Jim Quesenberry and our Superintendent, Dr. Eric Prater.

In case you were not able to attend Back to School Night, I want to share with you how you can get in touch with me if you ever have a question, concern or friendly suggestion.

As your child(ren)'s principal, my most important work is to ensure that your child is receiving a quality education. Therefore, I am in classrooms for a large portion of each day and will not be in my office at these times. If you would like to talk, you can always email me, grab me for a chat on campus or see any of the staff in the front office and make an appointment. I truly love to hear from parents and appreciate an appointment so I can give you my undivided attention. Again, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am here for you and your child! Mark your calendar for my first Principal's Coffee of the year on the topic of School Safety- September 25 at 8:30 a.m. in the LOMS Staff Lounge.

mindfulSLO

Click on this link for more information regarding this amazing program.

mindfulSLO, our local think-tank, was created in the process of researching, connecting, seeking resources, asking questions, and wanting to fill in the gaps. We had a need to better understand what was missing and how we could seek solutions and create change. Our writing is a local offering of our research and our way of helping create dialogue between parents, students, and our community. It's our way to encourage all to connect and be well.

Meet Mrs. Avila
Mrs. Angela Avila is new to LOMS this year and is teaching Spanish and 6th Grade Humanities. Mrs. Avila came to us from Pacheco Elementary.

I live in Los Osos with my hubbie Richard (he works for in Public Utilities Dept. for City of SLO) and our children Isaac (junior at MBHS) and Kate (8th grader at LOMS). I'm originally from San Clemente, CA and come from a large family of teachers. I earned my bilingual teaching credential from Chico State and started by teaching 5th grade in Prunedale, near Salinas. Then my husband and I moved to Los Osos and I taught at Pacheco (many different grades) for 18 years before coming to LOMS. When I'm not teaching I like to read, hang out with my family, and hike or swim. I'm really enjoying getting to know the students and all the friendly staff here at LOMS!
