President's Message -   Elaine Wiant

Hello LWV-TX Advocate,

2017 was a year of bold action for the Texas League! We have much to celebrate:
  • Growing membership and newly forming local Leagues
  • Substantial growth in outreach through social media, action alerts, testimony, and newspaper and radio interviews
  • LWV-Texas with NAACP Texas lawsuit filed to prevent the Texas Secretary of State from disclosing our personal information to the so-call Election “Integrity” Commission

I am so proud of each and every one of you for all you have done to make 2017 a banner year. For more about our accomplishments in 2017, see our 2017 Impact Report here (or on our webpage) and watch for a hard copy in your mailbox.

P.S. I hope you love the League's new mission statement as much as I do: Empowering voters. Defending democracy.

P.P.S. The League's new value statement is awesome as well:  We believe in the power of women to create a more perfect democracy . It recognizes our historical roots in the suffrage movement while recognizing that we have a long way to go -- that our democracy will be "more perfect" when women are equal partners in decision making.

Thank you for your dedication! We are Making Democracy Work® in Texas!
LWVUS' New Mission Statement!

GOTV Evidence Based Practice:
Have conversations! Talk about voting informally with friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. I t is the dynamic interaction of authentic person-to-person contact that is most important in determining whether or not a conversation will successfully motivate Texans to vote.
