"That the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph" (2 Th 3:1): may this Year of Faith make our relationship with Christ the Lord increasingly firm, since only in him is there the certitude for looking to the future and the guarantee of an authentic and lasting love.

Mary: in the heart of the moon
A few weeks ago I had the good fortune of visiting Mexico City and participating in a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. As always, the experience was much more profound than I could ever express. I brought with me the various intentions of friends and relatives, and along with my own prayers, I laid them at the altar of the Virgin of Tepeyac.
Incidentally, my stay in Mexico coincided with a perfectly horizontal waning crescent moon (the same moon depicted in the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe), and I couldn't help but admire the beauty of this physical phenomenon of such great relevance to the essence of Mexico. I also had to reflect on the profound significance of this moon to the Mexican people.
Most people, including even Mexicans themselves, are not familiar with the origin of the word "Mexico." It comes from the Náhuatl word Meshico, which literally means "the navel of the moon." This phrase is translated more figuratively into English as "heart of the moon." Maria Ines Ramirez, Administrative Assistant for the Office of Hispanic Ministry
Hello Everyone. Some of you that come to Centro often, might not see me there, since my office is located in the John Paul II Center in the Archdiocese of Denver, but as you may be aware the Office of Hispanic Ministry and Centro San Juan Diego go in hand in hand. It has been a true joy and blessing to be part of the wonderful team of Centro San Juan Diego for the past two years. As Administrative Assistant I have the privilege of coordinating several events for our Hispanic Community like our Annual Catechetical Congress and our biggest Archdiocesan event which is Living the Catholic Faith Conference. It makes my day to see that the hard work is paid off when I see that our events are full to its capacity and that our people are being evangelized. In a personal note I am married to my longtime friend and elementary schoolmate Uriel. We have an extraordinary daughter Jaqueline that keep us on our feet at all times, and our baby Angel that is looking down on us from heaven.
Favorite food: "La comida de mamá" (Moms homemade food)
Place I'd like to visit: Rome, Italy
