LaBAEO ANNOUNCES EDUCATION EXPO TOUR
Statewide Road Show will inform parents of parental choice options in their local community

Baton Rouge, LA - In an effort to ensure that low-income parents across Louisiana are fully informed of new opportunities created by recently passed education reform legislation and to maximize their understanding of existing local parental choice options, the Louisiana Black Alliance for Educational Options (LaBAEO) has scheduled a series of education expos in early June.  Designed to help parents understand the new options that may be available for their children in the next few years,  LaBAEO will host the Education Expo Tour during the initial weeks of the application period for the newly expanded Student Scholarships for Educational Excellence (SSEE) program, which is tentatively scheduled to begin May 22, 2012.

Schools and education service providers are being invited to participate in the expos so that parents understand and see first-hand what their local community has to offer in regards to K-12 education.

Education Expo Tour Schedule

June 4 - Alexandria (Broadway Resource Center) - 5pm
June 5 - Lafayette (True Vine Ministries) - 6pm
June 6 - Baton Rouge (Capital Area Technical College) - 6pm
June 7 - Lake Charles (Greater St. Mary Baptist Church) - 6pm

"Parents in this state have been waiting with great anticipation to take advantage of the recently passed parental choice legislation.  Our expos not only give us the opportunity to provide them with information on new programs resulting from this legislation, but we'll also be able to ensure they know about existing parental choice options in their community," stated Eric B. Lewis, LaBAEO's State Director.

LaBAEO has also launched a new website, www.louisianaschoolexpos.com, to disseminate information on the expos and to provided updated information on the implementation of the SSEE program.
