CRUISIN' TO THE ISLAND CAR SHOW 

Join us for the inaugural Cruisin' To The
Island Car Show at Treasure Island Foods (3460 N. Broadway) on October 15th from 1pm - 5pm, featuring Klassic Cars from before 1973. This event is free and open to the public. CHICAGO MARATHON STREET CLOSURES

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon will involve extensive street closures on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Please see below for street closure information in Lakeview East and alternative travel routes. The Marathon starts 7:30am.

Mile 7 -  Sheridan Rd.: Diversey Pkwy. to Belmont Ave. 7am - 10:45am
Mile 8 - Inner Lakeshore Dr.: Belmont Ave. to Addison St. 7am - 10:45am 
Mile 8 - Addison St.: Inner Lakeshore Dr. to Broadway St. 7am - 10:45am
Mile 9 - Broadway St.: Addison St. to Diversey Pkwy. 7am - 10:45am
Mile 10 - Clark St.: Diversey Pkwy. to Webster Ave. 7am - 11am

AVAILABLE STREET ROUTES
- North of the Loop Michigan Ave. north of 8th St. North- and southbound lanes will remain open including access to the Magnificent Mile.

Show your support for the Chicago Cubs  as they prepare for and play in the Playoffs! We want to shower our neighborhood with support for the Cubs. Pick up your free "Fly The W " signs at the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce office at 3138 N. Broadway. We are open Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm.
SMALL BUSINESS REFORMS

The Lakeview East Chamber is proud to work with the Small Business Advocacy Council . Extending sidewalk cafes has been a request we have made for the past few years. It is with many voices we can make a difference. Other initiatives include legalizing A-frames (sandwich boards), eliminating the restriction of liquor license for food establishments that are located within 100 ft of a Church (200ft. for PPA) and making business easier for small businesses in Chicago. BURGER KING GRAND OPENING

We held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Burger King (748 W. Diversey) during their Grand Opening on Saturday, September 24th. Check out the new location and try some of Burger Kings' new Cheetos Chicken Fries!

44 FOR GOOD

Lakeview East businesses have been given the opportunity to participate in a free pilot program in the 44 th Ward with Chicago-based ForGoods, an online platform that rewards everyday good people for civic engagement and shopping local.

This week, ForGoods will be delivering 6x8" check-in board, postcard and window stickers to businesses. Community members are encouraged to shop in support of their favorite causes, and ForGoods has everyone's non-profit spotlight partner to be our local public elementary school, Nettelhorst. If you're a businesses and would like your spotlight to be a different non-profit, please let beth@forgoods.com know.

XO MARSHMALLOWS' KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

XO Marshmallows has started a Kickstarter Campaign that goes until October 13th and they need your help. Their goal is to take that ooey-gooey memory of sipping a cup of hot cocoa topped with mini marshmallows, and that summer-camp nostalgia of your first s'more, into the 21st century with a modern twist! They  need your support to realize their dream of expanding their business to meet the demand for their handcrafted treats, PLUS bring in new products like their Marshmallow "Monut" Mug Toppers!

WineHouse invites you to join them as they launch and celebrate their partnership with the Lynn Sage Foundation to kick-off Breast Cancer Awareness Month! The event will take place on Thursday, September 29th from 6 - 7:30pm at WinHouse. During the event you'll hear from co-founder Laura Sage as everyone comes together to taste wine, sample food/treats ( Ceres' TableCity Press Juice + BottleXO MarshmallowMindo Chocolate Makers) and do our part to fund the fight. A $10/person fee will be collected and donated ENTIRELY to LSF, and WineHouse will also unveil their featured Breast Cancer Awareness Month wine, of which they will donate 50% of the profits throughout the month of October.
 
The Lynn Sage Foundation was founded in 2003 by sisters Laura and Halee Sage after losing their mother Lynn to breast cancer. The Chicago-based foundation raises over $350,000 annually to fund researchers in their effort to find a cure to this terrible disease.

ROBERT JEFFREY SALON'S GRAND OPENING GET-TOGETHER
 
Robert Jeffrey will be hosting a Grand Opening Get-Together on October 1st at 7pm. They will be giving away goodie bags and hosting hair presentations. You can also enjoy beverages and light hors d'oeuvres. They will also be celebrating and bringing awareness to the 25th anniversary of Paint The Town Pink.  Paint the Town Pink is an annual community wide effort to raise awareness of the importance of annual mammography.
LAKEVIEW KITCHEN & MARKET'S NIBBLE NIGHTS HOST THE LYNN SAGE CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION 

Neighborhood Nibble Nites are back at Lakeview Kitchen and
Market. Join them on October 4th between 6 - 8:30pm for a night of nibbling. At least 12 different small business food artisans will be in the kitchen offering you samples to taste. Some will even have PINK products as they invite the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation to join them and help raise awareness for Breast Cancer.

LAKEVIEW SENIORS PET THERAPY

Share the joy and love your pet brings to you with seniors who are receiving skilled nursing care! You and your pet will be joined by another volunteer to socialize with residents in their individual rooms. These friendly visits help minimize feelings of loneliness and isolation among residents, particularly those who are bedridden and can't participate in other activities at the facility. Lakeview Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre.
