PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

Dear Lakeview Families,

Starting February 1st we will be doing a reboot on a key part of our parking lot drop-off and pick-up procedures. We are asking that families with 4th and 5th graders to drop off only in the lower parking lot. Families dropping off a K-3 student and a 4-5 student can still use the main upper lot. K-3 families who prefer to drop off in the lower lot are welcome to continue to do so.

As you know we are growing school; we just crossed an enrollment of 570 students, which is over 50 more student than last year. Parking and traffic has always been a challenge at Lakeview and will continue to be one as we are in a dense setting surrounded by two very busy roads. While our main parking lot reboot last spring increased the safety and supervision of students, it was unable to address increase the throughput of the main lot. Backups are common and on rainy days we will have 30, 40, sometimes 50 students who are tardy, which impacts classroom instruction.

The lower lot also allows for a safer, light-assisted left-turn onto westbound 68th. Please take a moment to review the new drop off map as well as our original drop-off and pick-up video. We need your help to make our parking lot run more quickly by utilizing our lower lot more effectively.

Thanks - Steve

Happy New Year Everyone!  The  Lakeview PTSA Board is in the process of forming a Nominating Committee (lovingly called: NomCom) in charge of recruiting future PTSA Board Positions: 2017/18 school year.

What is Nominating Committee?
- A group of three Lakeview parents who will be in charge of recruiting future board members for 2017/18 school year
- One of the three members is a board member (already appointed)

How long is this assignment?
- NomCom typically completes work in two months.
- The new board needs to be voted on in our spring general meeting - scheduled for April 20 or June 01.

By when do we need to form NomCom?
- Our goal is to have NomCom Formed by February 23.

This is is an excellent way to explore if you would like to serve on the Lakeview PTSA Board as either a board member, event coordinator or a program chairperson. For more information or to fill out a submission form, please visit the Lakeview PTSA website.
