PRINCIPAL'S CORNER

Dear Lakeview Families,

I am consistently impressed by the breadth of the support the PTSA provides students at Lakeview every day. As I am out and about in classrooms, I see parent volunteers working with students in small groups, hanging up artwork, helping run field trips and class activities. That is on top of special events through the year, like Family Game Night last night which drew a huge portion of our Lakeview families and community. Also, the supports the PTSA helps fund impact Lakeview every day, from classrooms with greater access to technology, to playground equipment enjoyed by students every single recess, to online learning programs that support learning in and out of the classroom. We can't do it without you, and if you haven't joined the Lakeview PTSA there is no time like the present!

I would encourage you reach out other Lakeview families new to our community. At the semester change we had a number of new families register and are orienting to a new school, new teacher, new PTSA, and new community. The Lakeview Family Network will be hosting an upcoming Parent Coffee in the Lakeview library at 2:30PM on March 3rd; I encourage you to attend. I would love to see you there! Also, consider reaching out to a new family in your student's class that could use connection or support and bring them along with you.

Thanks - Steve

The City of Kirkland is considering land use code changes that would impact the closest major intersection to Lakeview. The official name of the project is the "Houghton Everest Neighborhood Center & 6th Street Corridor Study," or to put in Lakeview term, "the 7-11, Menchies, Tacos el Guero, Bartells, Met Market, PCC and the Streets between them Study."  Click here to visit the official site.

The Kirkland Planning Commission and Houghton Community Council had a study session on February 23. You can read the background information including transportation study and recommendations here.  If this link doesn't work you can find it on the Houghton Community Council page.

There will be an open house and public hearing on Thursday, March 23, at City Hall. The open house is at 6pm and the hearing is at 7pm.
