Seabrook, TX: Lakewood Yacht Club (LYC) and Bay Access are excited to present Bay Cup I, part of the 2017 Bay Cup Series! Fleet Captain Rex Bettis announced that the 2017 Bay Cup I Regatta will be held on Saturday, March 4, on Trinity Bay. This one-day event will showcase a full spectrum of sailboats and feature long distance premier racing.
“Bay Cup I is the first of a two-race series with races having multiple legs totaling about 15 - 20 nautical miles,” explained Larry Rogers, Bay Cup I Regatta Chair. “This will be an amazing experience for both sailors and spectators alike.” Seabrook offers an array of accommodating hotels to choose from, so make a weekend of it and bring the family and friends.
"The race should be fun for everyone involved," said Bettis. "Families, friends and spectators can enjoy themselves at an array of local shopping venues or visit the outstanding local attractions.” Local entertainment includes inspiring the mind at Space Center Houston, strolling through Armand Bayou, dining or riding the various rides at the Kemah Boardwalk, or hiking one of the numerous trails in Seabrook.
Overall trophies will be presented for the two-race series at the conclusion of Bay Cup II in August. Both races are open to the public with a $75 registration fee each. The registration fee includes entry into the Skipper’s Meeting Friday, March 3rd, 7:30 p.m. in Lakewood’s ballroom, along with one meal and two drink tickets for the Saturday night festivities, which include the awards ceremony and amazing live music from Kelly McGuire, an award-winning singer, and songwriter who is always a crowd pleaser.

Sailboat classes include PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Non-Spin, PHRF under 30 feet, Cruising Poleless Spin, Cruising Non-Spin-Classic Canvas (i.e. Dacron sails), Shorthanded Offshore Sailors, Multihull and One Design Classes.
