Lansing Regional Chamber Launches Healthcare Reform Series on May 14

First Program Provides Overview of the Affordable Care Act

The Lansing Regional Chamber is pleased to offer a new series of programming dedicated to helping businesses understand the upcoming Affordable Care Act and are well prepared for the 2014 implementation 

 

Our first program - The Affordable Care Act: An Overview of What to Expect -  will be held Tuesday, May 14. This program will feature a presentation from Alisa Bennett, Manager of the Group Business Health Care Reform Team for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. She will cover the following topics:

 

  • Employer responsibilities under the ACA
  • Subsidies, taxes and penalties to be aware of
  • What is the Marketplace?
  • What is the SHOP?
  • What is the Blues doing to prepare?
  • The Agent's role on the SHOP
  • Additional helpful resources

Bennett will then be joined for an in-depth panel discussion by
Michael James, a Senior Healthcare & Business Attorney with Fraser Trebilcock Davis & DunlapElizabeth H. Latchana, Shareholder, Employee Health & Welfare Benefits, Fraser Trebilcock Davis & Dunlapand a representative from
Grotenhuis, an Agent management company.
