Harmony Stained Glass
Whatcha Want for Christmas?

Harmony is well-stocked with all the most popular Christmas presents.
We have saws, grinders, kilns, Morton System, Strip Pro, Lead Stretcher, Diegel Foiler, Ephrem's Bottle Cutter and much more!  If you want to make your
selections and create a gift registry, we can do that too.

Please tell your loved ones to come to Harmony for their gifting.  When you get new tools for Christmas, you might need a local person to help you learn how to use them.  It also helps us keep the doors open for another exciting year of
art glass at Harmony.

If you don't know what you want or if you want something big and you want
to ask your friends and family to help you a little at a time, you can always ask for a gift certificate.

THE POPULAR POINSETTIA

Poinsettias were first introduced into this country in 1828 by the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, Dr. Joel Poinsett.  Also an amateur botanist, he discovered a shrub with brilliantly colored red leaves growing by the side of the road in Taxco, Mexico in December 1828.  He sent cuttings home to his plantation in Greenville, South Carolina.

Did you know that the poinsettia's main attraction is not its flowers, but its leaves? The flowers of the plant are the yellow clustered buds in the center (termed "cyathia"). The colored leafy parts are actually bracts or modified leaves, that

turn color in response to the plant forming flowers.

Poinsettias are now grown in all 50 states and represent over 85 percent of

potted plant sales during the holidays. Over $220 million worth of poinsettias

are sold during holiday season!

She has also built an extraordinary record as an instructor in the kiln arts, and seems to be everywhere at once, carrying the torch of kiln-working and glass blowing to students at workshops around the world.

We've been teaching the Stringer Bowl technique for several years. When people come into the store, they can't help but look at all the fabulous art work. When they come to the stringer bowl, all they want to do is touch it! The stringer bowl looks like fabric that was frozen into a bowl shape.

Using layers of glass stringer in your choice of colors, you will create a distinctive glass bowl that is sure to be an artistic conversation piece.  If you don't tell, no one will know how you did it!   Once you know the technique, you can recreate this bowl in many different colors and patterns.

Since this project can be completed with NO EXPERIENCE OR SKILLS REQUIRED, it's a perfect time to bring your family and friends to introduce them to glass!

4-Layer Basket

Woven Illusion Plate

from 1:00 to 3:00 pm

$46 includes two firings

and a $12 credit for glass

You pick the colors of your glass basket and we'll help you create it! By using a specific technique of layering glass strips, you will create a glass basket that really looks WOVEN!

With a color combination of your choice, this bowl can be custom designed to suit any room in your home.  Adding noodles, stringer or pre-cut shapes gives your bowl interest and adds texture to your pattern.

Wine Bottle Cheese Board

Recycled Wine Bottle Cheese Tray

with Joyce Sullivan

$30 includes supplies (on sale for $17)

**No Previous Experience Necessary**

BYOB for Wine Bottle Class

This is an ultimate recycling project!  Talented instructors lead this fun workshop as you learn how to transform empty wine bottles into decorative hors d'oeuvre or cheese trays.

Each participant needs to bring one regular (not sentimental value) wine bottle.  It must clean and dry, inside and outside and have the label and glue removed.

We will demo and explain how to flatten wine bottles in the kiln. Since it takes 19 hours to squish a wine bottle, we'll exchange your bottle with a similar bottle that is already flat.

To remove the label, soak your bottle for thirty minutes in very hot, soapy water. If the label doesn't slip right off, you can use a razor blade scraper to remove it. If the adhesive doesn't come off easily, you can use Goo Gone to get it off.

After you've learned the technique, you can bring more wine bottles to Harmony for squishing.  Kiln fees are as low as $12 for one bottle up to $60 for ten bottles.
