The Children's Nature Institute's "Whale Tail" Summer Camp ended with a field trip to Malibu Lagoon. This pilot program was funded by a grant from the California Coastal Commission. Program Coordinator, Araceli Perez, said that "Whale Tail" campers were concerned about protecting Malibu Lagoon's fragile ecosystem. They talked about what they could do about litter and were focused on leaving natural items untouched. Docents Stan Kamin, Bette Simons, and Georja Umano-Jones shared their expertise and love of nature with campers and their families, making the walk extra special. Thanks to our inquisitive "Whale Tail" campers, supportive parents, committed educators, and dedicated docents, CNI's first-ever summer camp at the Magnolia Place Family Center was a success!
