Winter Market Saturday
This Saturday closes out the 2014-15 Winter Market series, and is the last farmers market until opening day of the regular season on May 23. So be sure to stop by this week, from 9 am to 11 am at the usual market location. Here's the current list of vendors scheduled to be there:
- Amazing Acres Goat Dairy: Assorted fresh, delicious goat cheeses.
- Buy The Dozen Bakery: Artisan breads and Bavarian pretzels, all butter croissants including chocolate.
- Creative Shepherd Farm: Cheese (including new sheep's milk cheeses), jam, salsa, panela, and honey.
- Freeland Market: Fresh sausages, charcuterie and smoked meats.
- Livengood Family Farm: Winter spinach, 100% grass-fed beef and pasture-raised pork.
- MoJo's Pop Co: Popcorn.
- Nana's Homemade: NEW VENDOR! Hot fudge sauce and spread.
- Paradocx Vineyard: Wine; Earth Day special: $4 off per can return toward wine purchase.
- Taste of Puebla: Guacamole, corn chips, pico de gallo, salsa fresca, spicy red salsa, pork or chicken tamales.
- Vera Pasta: Traditional homemade fresh pasta and sauces.
- Snyder's Produce
- Wilson's Curiously Good Foods: Chicken salad plus lots of other goodies.
Saturday Night: Union AA Fundraiser with Mason Porter
There's still time left to order tickets for Saturday's Down Home BBQ benefit featuring roots-rock band Mason Porter, a generous buffet, and much more. The event takes place from 7 pm to 11 pm at the Twentieth Century Club. Proceeds help the Union AA put on the annual Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza. Arts and Crafts Show Exhibitors
More than 40 exhibitors will be on hand for the annual Lansdowne Arts & Crafts Show presented by the LEDC. The show takes place from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday, May 2 in the 30 N. Lansdowne Municipal Lot; rain date is Sunday, May 3.
Verse to Verse
April is National Poetry Month, so it's a good time to highlight a couple local poetry-centric events that take place in Lansdowne. This Saturday at 3 pm, No Place for Hate Lansdowne Chapter holds its monthly Poetry Slam at Art Space Lansdowne. This month's event will focus on "Earth Day Thoughts."
Next Sunday, April 26, Regency Cafe hosts a Poetry Sampler featuring Sara Lee Langsam, Rosalie Grant, Ed Krizek, Journey, Mel Brake, and Virginia Powell. This free event takes place from 2:00 to 3:30 pm and is part of the popular Rhyme, Rhythm and Reason series hosted by Camelia Nocella.
Lansdowne Symphony Season Finale
The Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra closes its 2014-15 season with a 3 pm performance on Saturday, April 26 at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue. The concert features compositions by Mosakowski, Mozart, and Britten, and includes two guest performers. Young Artists Competition winner Janet Wu will be featured on Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20; Charlotte Blake Alston will provide narration for Britten's "A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra."
Town-Wide Yard Sale: A Spring Tradition
Join the fun! There's still time to clean out those attics and have your yard sale to the official map; call Betsy at Borough Hall (610-623-7300, ext. 211), by April 23. This fun and free community event will feature sales all over town; maps will be available online as well as Borough Hall and the Lansdowne Public Library. Rain date is Sunday, May 10.
Memorial Day 5K
The deadline to pre-register for the Ninth Annual Lansdowne Memorial Day 5K is just a few weeks away! Sign up by May 4 for discounted early rates and a 5K t-shirt. Groups of 20 or more who pre-register are also eligible to choose their shirt color for their own custom team shirts.
