We are days from the end of Caribbean American Heritage Month (CAHM) but I am happy to report that I have also done the charge I asked YOU to do this month. I have showed my Caribbean colors in so many ways that if there was any doubt about where I am from, it is now gone!
Sending more hugs to all the Caribbean massive I have seen since I connected with you, especially those who were inside the WEAA studios with us on Saturday (Papa Wabe, Ichelle Cole, Lewis Buchanan, Dutty Bookman and his family, the promoters from TDP including Denise Dixon, Oliver Samuels and the crew from Embassy Saga and Mr. Muzik). What a lovely time we all had. If you were not listening to us at www.weaa.org or on 89.3FM, ask Papa Wabe for a copy of the show and keep that one in the archives.
Yes, "Embassy Saga" was a really great production. I loved the story line, the acting and the chemistry on stage from the four actors. Kudos to Oliver Samuels for writing such a play rich with some serious messages under all of that comedy. Michael Campbell was the most appropriate MC for that event because I like to call him "DC's Oliver Samuels" and he was hilarious and had us in stitches. The icing on the cake after the show was the presentation of awards to Oliver Samuels by Victoria Rogers of the Jamaica Tourist Board and yours truly representing Peppy Entertainment & Promotions. We presented awards to Oliver for his incredible work onstage for over 40 years. With June being CAHM, I felt it prudent to also recognize Oliver for giving us Caribbean Americans the gift of comedy while he is touring, because quite frankly, a lot of us do not visit our home country often enough and when we do, we hardly get the chance to check out an onstage performance. God bless the faithful Caribbeans worldwide who make it their point of duty to support the actors and productions while they are touring in the USA. Oliver also celebrates a very special birthday this year so Happy Birthday to him when it comes. Salute to Master Oliver Adolphus Samuels.

On Wednesday, I took a night trip to check out Wally King's new Wednesday LIVE Reggae event at Twelve Lounge on H Street in NE, DC and it was also nice to see some nice folks in the place. Big ups to Wolde Phillpotts, Papa Wabe, Tony Carr, Jahiti, Rasta King, Peter Humphrey and the Oasis Band, Beware and Anjajla Marie (Sister Akua).

It has been a very fun-filled month of June. Summer just started last week so expect to see more Caribbean people out and about. On the work side, tonight I am hosting and will be celebrating CAHM with the seniors from the Washington Seniors Wellness Center as we have "Connecting Cultures" -- the Third Inter-generational event where DC seniors get to really sample some of the best DC area Caribbean talent.
