Guess whose barn is Historic Gettysburg Adams County's barn of the week? Kuhn Orchards! Built by our ancestors around 1840ish and used as a Confederate hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg, that barn has seen a lot over the years. And the most amazing thing? The barn is still being used for an agricultural purpose after 175 years by the 5th generation of our family! Pretty cool, huh?
In the spring of 2015 we received a grant from HGAC to redo the roof as historically consistent as possible while maintaining the functionality of the barn. We still use the barn for on a daily basis - Onion and garlic curing, storage and sorting of tomatoes, and a small cooler that holds our onions and carrots over the winter months.
