June is almost upon us and it will only be a few short weeks before Maine Huts & Trails swings into summer full-service mode. Friday, June 22nd we reopen with new summer hut crews. Meanwhile, we are still in our Caretaker Season until June 22nd. This means inexpensive lodging ($30 per member) and free use of our kitchen facilities for meal preparation. This last week of May ends the members-only winter reservations period.  Maine Huts & Trails Announces Two Guest Chef Nights

 

Maine Huts & Trails is excited to announce its next two Guest Chef Nights to be held this summer and fall at Flagstaff Hut. These will be held Saturday, July 28th and Saturday, September 22nd. You are invited to hike into Flagstaff Hut situated on beautiful Flagstaff Lake for a festive evening and a delicious meal.


The first event on July 28th will feature the cuisine of Chef 

Jay Villani. Jay is Chef/Owner of

both Sonny's Restaurant and Local 188, two of Portland's most vibrant restaurants. Since 1999, Jay's menus have showcased the freshest ingredients sourced from local farms to create robust flavors in Mediterranean and New World cuisine. (Read more about Jay)


September's event will feature Chef David Turin. David is the Executive Chef and owner of David's

Monument Square in Portland and David's 388 in South Portland, two exceptional restaurants known for imaginative flavor combinations showcasing fresh, quality ingredients with an eye to the season. David was honored by the Maine Restaurant Association as Maine's 2012 Chef of the Year, and was recently featured in Down East Magazine, which described David as "a force of good in the community." These gourmet meals will feature the finest local ingredients and each course will be paired with a carefully-selected fine wine. The cost is $250 per person or $450 per couple. This price includes the gourmet dinner, wines, lodging at the hut, and the traditional MH&T full American breakfast prepared by hut staff the following morning. Proceeds will benefit Maine Huts & Trails' non-profit mission. Space is limited to 44 individuals. To make a reservation call toll free 877.634.8824
