Did You Receive Your Annual Accreditation Fee Invoice?
Staff Contact: Ruth Crump, ruth@coaemsp.org

Annual Accreditation Fee invoices were emailed out during the week of May 1, 2018. This invoice came from Ruth Crump ( ruth@coaemsp.org) and was sent to the Billing Contact on record.

If you have not received an invoice, first check your spam folder to see if the invoice ended up there; if not, then notify Ruth at ruth@coaemsp.org; Ruth will email the invoice to you immediately.

The due date for the invoice is July 1. This applies to ALL programs that either hold CAAHEP accreditation or the CoAEMSP Letter of Review, or are working toward the LoR.

To avoid additional processing fees, payment is due on or before July 31.

If your program requires that a Purchase Order appear on the invoice, email this request immediately to ruth@coaemsp.org

N OTE: An additional Processing Fee invoice of $500 will be sent the first week in August for past due Annual Accreditation Fees.
Do You Know When to Add an Assistant Medical Director?
Staff Contact: Lynn Caruthers, lynn@coaemsp.org

Does your program send students out of state for clinical, field experience and/or capstone field internship? If the answer is yes, then the program must identify and gain CoAEMSP approval “in advance” for each physician (Assistant Medical Director) who agrees to supervise and oversee the students’ clinical, field experience and/or capstone field internship.

The program must provide evidence of a formal relationship with a licensed physician currently authorized to practice in each state where students are participating in patient care. The physician must meet or exceed the qualifications for the position of Assistant Medical Director and perform the responsibilities of the position as described in the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines (Standard III.B.4.) “to provide Medical supervision and oversight of out of state students participating in clinical, field experience and/or capstone field internship.”

The program must also provide evidence that it has successfully notified and gained approval from each respective State Office of EMS where students are sent ( CoAEMSP Policy XI.D).

If the program’s Medical Director is licensed in other states other than where the main program is located, the Medical Director may agree to serve as the “supervising and overseeing physician” in each state where he/she is licensed. In such cases, the program must notify CoAEMSP and provide a copy of the Medical Director’s current license for each state ( CoAEMSP Policy XI.C-D).

If the program needs to identify a physician in the state where students will be placed (see CAAHEP Standard III.B.4.a-b.), the program must add the physician as an Assistant Medical Director following the personnel procedure outlined on our webpage here . This procedure must be completed in advance of placing students out of state.

Be sure your are using the correct form when you add an Assistant Medical Director! (See related article that follows.)

Questions should be directed to Dr. Gordon Kokx ( gordy@coaemsp.org) or Lynn Caruthers ( lynn@coaemsp.org).
Are You Using the Correct Form or Document?
Staff is often revising forms and documents to facilitate completion and reflect updates. Make sure you are using the most recent and accurate form by downloading the form or document from our website EACH time you need to complete a form or document!
