1. Introduction

By Jeff Taylor, CEO

Dear Friends, Happy New Year and thank you as always for your continued interest in Event 38!

As our company enters its fifth year, we are excited about the progress that the drone industry has made and the tremendous support you have given to us along the way. From our humble beginnings in 2011, we now have customers in more than 50 countries and six continents using our drones and DDMS analytics platform for countless business applications, conservation, and research. Look for some special events later in the year as we celebrate your achievements!

We enter 2016 with strong capabilities and new offerings to create drone based solutions for you. In the past few months:

  • We introduced our most sophisticated drone ever, the E386, that makes autonomous landings possible in extremely confined areas.
  • Released our Drone Data Management System that takes data from any drone and turns it into geo-referenced maps that can be viewed online, on mobile, and  shared or downloaded for use in your existing workflow.
  • Began building our international reseller network and now provide a local presence in 15 countries.
  • Gave our website a much needed face lift.

And we have several new products in the pipeline to better serve you in 2016 and beyond.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who helped us reach 3,000 Twitter followers! We passed this milestone in late January and it was a great way to start 2016. Don't forget to follow us @event38 !

We are always interested in your ideas and feedback on how we can better serve you. Let us know what you think.

Thanks again!

2. Drone Data Management System Update

The Event 38 Drone Data Management System™  is a fully automated secure storage, post-processing and private sharing solution for data collected by any drone.

DDMS is one of the first to be able to take data from any drone or sensor and create sophisticated analytics.

DDMS streamlines your entire post-processing workflow - Upload, Process, Analyze and Share. It automatically creates a geotagged orthomosaic and tiles large maps to be viewed quickly in Map Viewer, our online map tool. DEMs, NDVI and DVI calculations can be added as well.
Status Update - Over the past few months, you have flown thousands of missions and achieved important insights from your data. And your feedback has set the stage for our future development activities. For example we recently introduced a sophisticated stockpile volume measurement app that achieves highly accurate results. Look for additional apps in the upcoming months.

In January we introduced our charter membership plans. We encourage all of our current users to lock in introductory pricing now being offered.

Finally, we have begun to work with third party application developers so they can publish their apps on our platform. If you have developed an app that you think would be useful to other users, please contact Jeff Taylor.
3. Focus on Resellers - UAV del Peru

Juan Bergelund, President, recently announced that it has won a bid to supply drones to the Government of Peru.  Under this agreement, the Peruvian government will use Event 38 drones to assist in disaster relief from anticipated effects of the current El Niño.

Bergelund says “Scientists tell us that the current El Niño could be the most powerful on record and the Government of Peru wants to be prepared. For several months they had been in discussions with service providers to support their preparation plans for disaster recovery and relief. Event 38 drones give Peru an affordable, stable and accurate aerial mapping system and we have the ability to provide them with local training and support that is second to none.”

Event 38 staff worked closely with UAV del Peru to help them secure the deal. Jeff Taylor, Event 38 CEO, says "The credit goes to Juan and his staff. Their local presence and expert staff gave the Government the confidence to choose our solution."

Event 38 expanding our international reseller network. We strongly believe that our advanced drones and systems combined with support from local partners is key to providing industrial solutions to our mutual customers. If you would like to become our next reseller, please contact John Blair

4. Regulatory Issues
Notice to US Drone Owners  -
Last December the FAA introduced mandatory registration of all drones both new and previously purchased. If you own a drone and do not have a 333 exemption you must register your drone by February 19, 2016 or face stiff penalties and possible civil and criminal penalties. Click here for more information.
Beyond COA and 333 Exemptions - Since the publication of of draft rules for commercial use of drones last February there has been very little additional information released. The FAA has 'promised' to publish final rules by June, 2016 which will replace the requirement for a COA or 333 exemption with a first set of rules. While we dont know the final specifics, the draft rules are here and our response to them is here.

We will keep you informed as progress is made.
