State of the County: Business is Booming!
Everywhere you go in Delaware County, you see bulldozers at work, buildings going up, businesses opening and - most important - people connecting with jobs.  When County Council presented the 2016 State of the County address on April 5, the news was positive and upbeat! Business is booming in Delco, from the revitalization of 69th Street, to the re-energized refineries in Marcus Hook, to the excellent reuse of the Ellis School campus in Newtown Square. If you missed the Chamber of Commerce's State of the County event, you can read the full presentation at
New road to recovery in opioid epidemic
As the heroin/opioid epidemic continues to take its toll on people's lives, Delaware County added a new  strategy in its battle against drug  addiction. County Councilman Dave White announced the Recovery Specialist Program where trained specialists will reach out to drug overdose survivors in an effort to connect them with treatment.  Since late 2014, Delaware County police officers  have saved the lives of 218 individuals from an overdose using the life-saving drug, naloxone. But what happens to these individuals once they are revived? This new initiative is aimed at connecting those survivors with treatment and breaking the cycle of addiction. To contact a Recovery Specialist call 610-713-2384.
