A Message from Mrs. Gioe
One of the traditions of MBS is to begin each morning with a school-wide assembly that starts with prayer. To assist the students in learning the traditional
Catholic prayers, we change the prayer each month. During the month of May, the prayer has been
The Guardian Angel Prayer.
Angel of God, My Guardian Dear
To Whom God’s Love Commits Me Here
Ever This Day, Be at My Side
To Light, To Guard, To Rule, To Guide.
Amen
As a child, I remember my mother and father kneeling with me and my sister each night, and saying this prayer with us before tucking us in. Naturally, we also asked God to prayer for all those we loved…even the earthworms we may have caught in the yard that day! Another thing I remember, is as I snuggled down under the covers after saying the prayer with my parents, I felt safe, loved, and protected.
This week the MBS Class of 2017 will graduate from this school, where most have been for nine years. This month, as I have recited this prayer, I have recited it for them. May they go forth feeling safe, loved and protected and may God light, guard, rule and guide them as they journey on to high school. Class of 2017, we are Pelican Proud!

Vacation Bible School Announcement
Dear MBS Parish Families,
After much consideration,
the decision has been made to cancel Vacation Bible School for 2017
.
The reasons for this cancellation are the construction that will be taking place this summer on the school campus, as well as the fact that many of our VBS Volunteer Staff and families are still in the process of rebuilding their homes from last year's flooding.
In preparation for VBS in 2018
, a committee will be formed to look at possible new formats that would enhance the VBS experience for our parish families.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Christian Formation at
751-5867
.
