Dear MBS Families,
We will be participating in The Great Kindness Challenge of 2018! The Great Kindness Challenge is essentially a list of 50 kind acts and one week (January 22-26) in which to complete them. Students may complete the items individually, in groups, or as a class. This is a
worldwide
movement and week of kindness. After fulfilling the week, we will be designated as a "Kindness Certified School."

From the Office of Child Protection:
Important Notification:
Our Child Protection site supervisor, Ms. Beverly Peterson, will be out of the office for an extended period of time for a series of medical treatments. We have a certified volunteer who met with the Diocese and will be available for a few hours each week. Processing time of child protection applications will be affected. As such, if you are planning to volunteer, please pick up your packet at least a month before your volunteer event will occur. Packets may be picked up in the Office of Christian Formation from 8:30-2:30 Monday-Thursday. Please pray for a quick recovery for Ms. Peterson. We thank you in advance for your patience.
Parents,
I
n order to volunteer at MBS School, the school child protection process must be completed. This includes four parts-a completed volunteer application, certificate of completion of online training, signatory page from the Code of Ethics, and a fingerprint background check.
Please note that if you have been deemed compliant with the Parish for scouts, sports (grades K-4), etc. you are
NOT
compliant with the school child protection process until you have completed the fingerprint background check. The fingerprint background check is an extra step required to volunteer in a school. The paperwork for the fingerprint background check is available through my office.
If you have any questions concerning your compliance, please contact Beverly Peterson at
[email protected]
or at
225-753-5526
. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Parents, please do not go to the state police to be fingerprinted without the necessary paperwork to have the proper background check run.
Beverly Peterson
Child Protection Site Coordinator

St. Michael High School is excited to announce that we will be hosting a nationally recognized speaker on Suicide Awareness and Prevention. Kevin now travels the country and is an advocate for suicide awareness and prevention
.
We are excited to be hosting a middle school student and parent night in the St. Michael Gym at 6:30pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. All Diocesan middle school students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend this presentation.

PALS Luncheon - Volunteers Needed
Get Your Rear in Gear for the New Year - 80's style!
This year we will shower our faculty and staff with a healthy take on our Luncheon Service, and neon colors to boot! We will have a self serve salad and sandwich bar with healthy greens, veggies and toppings, and a parfait station to finish it all off!
Come help by setting up our 80's workout themed St. Ursula Hall with streamers, jam boxes and brightly colored tables, bringing a dish, or watching our kids, so the staff can enjoy a fun lunch together!
You may drop off items for decor on Thursday afternoon, in St. Ursula on the counter. Please label your items and we will return them to you. Thanks for all of your help in spoiling our wonderful teachers!
