Last weekend, MBS Parish celebrated the return of our Parish Fair – "Back to the Fair". By all accounts, the fair was a smashing success. The weather and fellowship were heaven sent. I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who made the fair part of their weekend plans. As mentioned in the fair prayer, "Where two or more gather, He is in our midst". This was certainly the case last weekend.
The word gratitude has been on my mind. While reading an online website (ibelieve.com) the other night, I came across this article;
“How do you encourage gratitude in your home - ideas for instilling thankfulness in children”.
Basically, it is through guided prayer as a family. Prayer must be daily and it must be intentional. Below are suggestions.
1. Sunday: A Family Prayer to Set an Example for Our Children
2. Monday: A Family Prayer to Grow in Thankfulness in All Circumstances
3. Tuesday: A Prayer for Our Family to Know God’s Character
4. Wednesday: A Prayer for Our Family to Notice God’s Good Works
5. Thursday: A Family Prayer for Bold Witness
6. Friday: A Prayer for Our Family to Fight Sin with Thankfulness
7. Saturday: A Prayer of Gratitude for Family
Join us by following the prayer suggestions above and in fostering the attitude of gratitude in our children.
In Christ,
Cheri Gioe

From the Office of Child Protection:
Parents,
I
n order to volunteer at MBS School, the school child protection process must be completed. This includes four parts-a completed volunteer application, certificate of completion of online training, signatory page from the Code of Ethics, and a fingerprint background check.
Please note that if you have been deemed compliant with the Parish for scouts, sports (grades k-4), etc. you are
NOT
compliant with the school child protection process until you have completed the fingerprint background check. The fingerprint background check is an extra step required to volunteer in a school. The paperwork for the fingerprint background check is available through my office.
If you have any questions concerning your compliance, please contact Beverly Peterson at
[email protected]
or at
225-753-5526
. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Parents, please do not go to the state police to be fingerprinted without the necessary paperwork to have the proper background check run.

Tuna Challenge
MBS and SJV students met with Mike Manning, an MBS parishioner and former school parent, who is the Director of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Mr. Manning awarded the TUNA Trophy to MBS school and congratulated both schools for taking this challenge to feed the hungry of the Baton Rouge area so seriously. Between the two schools,
1.25 TONS of tuna
were collected and this will go a long way to feed the hungry.
SJV has promised to “get us next year” and win this challenge NEXT YEAR. The spirit of healthy competition is alive and well and we look forward to the Great Tuna Challenge with SJV next year.
Thank you to everyone who made this such a successful service activity for our school!
