A Message from Mrs. Gioe
Thinking back to last year, I remember praying that MBS School would not flood. While MBS School did not flood, many of our families and faculty did and it has been a long recovery process for many, with some just recently returning home and many, who have yet to return home. Fast forward to August 2017 and we have watched Hurricane Harvey devastate southern Texas, Hurricane Irma ravage the entire state of Florida, our neighbors to the east and west and Hurricane Maria destroy the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
While the devastation amazes me, the generosity of spirit in the aftermath is even more amazing! I think Mr. Rogers said it best, many years ago, “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news and my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” This generosity of spirit is so powerful that it has the ability to take the place of the devastation and fear and serves as another sign from our heavenly Father that “love is the greatest of all.”
In the aftermath of Hurricane’s Harvey, Irma and Maria let us remember the words of John Wesley,
“Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.”
If we heed Wesley’s words, we will become the “helpers” of whom Fred Roger’s mother spoke.
In Christ,
Cheri Gioe

Corpus Christi Celebration - September 28
For MBS School, the feast that is most closely aligned with our naming of Most Blessed Sacrament is the Feast of Corpus Christi, which occurs each year during our summer break. We have set aside the last Thursday of September each year as a transfer date upon which we will celebrate our Feast and spend some prayer time with the Blessed Sacrament.
This year, we will celebrate our
Feast Day Mass at 8:10 on Thursday, September 28
in MBS Church, and we want to invite our parents and family members to join us for this celebration. At the end of Mass, following Communion, we will offer a short time of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. During this time of quiet music and prayer, we invite our parents to come pray for their individual family needs, for the success of our year as a Catholic School, and for the needs of all Parish and School families.
