A Message From Mrs. Gioe
During this Lenten season, I chose to sign up for an online program called The Dynamic Catholic. This online program is a spin of the book, The Dynamic Catholic and facilitated by its author Matthew Kelly.
In one of the recent video blogs, Kelly talked about Catholics and Prayer. He mentioned that as Catholics we often look for ways to get out of prayer: we are too busy, we don’t know how to pray, we are not extemporaneous pray-ers and the list could go on.
Finally, he posed a question, “How do we pray throughout our daily life?” He answered that for the viewer by saying, “We offer every minute of every hour of every day - everything we do as prayer.” Let’s take laundry for example. I know in my house, I feel like I am folding clothes ALL of the time. Kelly suggests that one stop and offer that chore of folding laundry as a prayer – “Father thank you for giving me the means to purchase these clothes and the ability to fold them. I offer this time to you in thanksgiving for the gifts you have bestowed upon me.”
Kelly goes on to say that if we begin to think of every minute of every hour of every day – everything we do as prayer, our lives will be dramatically changed. We will start to be grateful, look at things in a positive light and ultimately find joy in the day-to-day things that happen. Who doesn’t want to find joy in the day-to-day of our busy lives? For the remainder of this Lenten journey I challenge you to join me in turning your every minute of every hour of every day into prayer!
In Christ,
Cheri Gioe

2017-2018 Uniform Policy
Thank you to everyone who reached out to us with feedback regarding the 2017-2018 Uniform Policy. There were many constructive suggestions. The Uniform policy has been updated to reflect the suggestions:
1. In addition to the option of wearing a turtleneck when it is below 40 degrees, we have added the option of a long sleeved jersey knit shirt.
2. We have added brown as a belt option.
3. We have added small hoop earrings (1 cm or less in diameter.)
4. Girls in K-4 – The logo on the button down oxford is NOT required since it is being worn underneath the jumper.

Vacation Bible School Announcement
Dear MBS Parish Families,
After much consideration,
the decision has been made to cancel Vacation Bible School for 2017
.
The reasons for this cancellation are the construction that will be taking place this summer on the school campus, as well as the fact that many of our VBS Volunteer Staff and families are still in the process of rebuilding their homes from last year's flooding.
In preparation for VBS in 2018
, a committee will be formed to look at possible new formats that would enhance the VBS experience for our parish families.
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Christian Formation at
751-5867
