When I taught, I loved to sing. I sang everyday, all day. One of the songs I sang before our spring fair went like this:
We’re going to the fair, fair, fair
I’ll see you there, there, there
If you dare, dare, dare
I’ll see you at the fair, fair, fair.
Friday is the day we have all waited for, the opening day of the MBS Parish Fair. The fair is much more than a fun event. It represents a vibrant community of faith committed to the mission of the Catholic Church as we join together to celebrate, and the hard work of many is a tribute to the rich history of MBS parish.
As you enjoy the fair this weekend, take time to give thanks for the wonderful faith community of MBS…and don’t forget to have a little fun too. I know I will! If you dare, dare, dare I’ll see you at the fair, fair, fair!
In Christ,
Cheri Gioe

From the Office of Child Protection:
Parents,
I
n order to volunteer at MBS School, the school child protection process must be completed. This includes four parts-a completed volunteer application, certificate of completion of online training, signatory page from the Code of Ethics, and a fingerprint background check.
Please note that if you have been deemed compliant with the Parish for scouts, sports (grades k-4), etc. you are
NOT
compliant with the school child protection process until you have completed the fingerprint background check. The fingerprint background check is an extra step required to volunteer in a school. The paperwork for the fingerprint background check is available through my office.
If you have any questions concerning your compliance, please contact Beverly Peterson at
[email protected]
or at
225-753-5526
. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Parents, please do not go to the state police to be fingerprinted without the necessary paperwork to have the proper background check run.

Immune boosting foods for this Louisiana “Winter”
- Citrus foods- oranges, lemon, lime, tangerines, grapefruit
- Red bell peppers - Ounce for ounce, red bell peppers contain twice as much vitamin C as citrus. Dice them up real good and hide them in tacos for those picky eaters
- Broccoli
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Yogurt- Look for yogurts that have "live and active cultures" printed on the label, like Greek yogurt.
Please review hand washing with your little ones! Hopefully we can keep the spread of these winter time germs down!

It's Flu Season!
We are currently in the lovely flu season! The high risk groups, as with most illnesses, include the young, the old, and people with certain health conditions. Below are just a couple signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for.
- Fever or feeling feverish/chills -not everyone with flu will have a fever.
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Muscle or body aches
- Headaches
- Fatigue (very tired)
- Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in young children than in adults.
There are several options for getting the flu shot: PCP or pediatrician’s office, local drug stores, pop-up flu clinics such as the flu clinic at the Baton Rouge Clinic or the Health Center.
