A Message from Cheri Gioe:
I don’t know about you, but I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas trees. Each year I dread picking out the "perfect" tree and loading it in my car. I loathe putting the tree in the stand. I often feel like a contortionist trying to make sure it is secure and straight. Lastly, I detest putting the lights on the tree...bulbs don’t work, light strands are tangled, they are not spaced evenly on the tree or they get twisted around the wrong branches.
However, once the tree is purchased, placed in the stand and strung with lights, then, I love my Christmas tree. One of my favorite things to do during Christmas is reminisce as I put our family’s ornaments on the tree. Each ornament evokes a special memory, feeling or emotion. Ornaments that have been passed down in our family allow me to longingly think of loved ones in heaven. Those given to me to commemorate the birth of my children, help me to remember the specialness of their birth. Handmade ornaments help me to recall special moments and activities. There are ornaments that were purchased as souvenirs of special events places or trips. Lastly there are ornaments that have been given as gifts. These ornaments stir up memories of friends near and far. Each ornament, no matter how big or small, expensive or cheap, old or new, has a special meaning all of its very own. Yet, collectively, they create a snapshot of my life lived.
Now when I look at my Christmas tree, I am often filled with a sense of peace recognizing how truly blessed I have been. As we await the birth of our Savior, take some time to visit your Christmas tree and look back at the life He prepared for you.
In Christ,

Parent notices have been going out for the past year concerning the Diocesan requirement of volunteers/employees to update their training and/or code of ethics. In January the Diocese is going to do a system sweep of all volunteers/employees who have not completed the required updates. When this is done, if you are one of the volunteers/employees who have not completed the required updates, you will be non-compliant to volunteer/work at our School or Parish.
Please note that this requirement of updating the training and code of ethics is mandated by Louisiana law.
