Our Mission

The Matty Fund will provide family resources, raise epilepsy awareness, promote patient safety, and improve the quality of life for children and families living with epilepsy and seizures.

Does you child's school have the Matty Hatty Program?
Matty Hatty is a Matty Fund education program held in preschools and elementary schools . Participating schools are provided an easy to follow curriculum to help build awareness about seizures and epilepsy. Children also learn about the significance of accepting differences and giving to help others.
  • Teachers answer questions using provided fun materials and activities as a guide
  • Children/families collect pledges and celebrate what they have learned with a five-minute dance while wearing a silly hat.

All funds collected from this event support The Matty Fund's programs and services assisting Rhode Island children and families. For information on bringing the Matty Hatty program to your child's school Email: Nicole@mattyfund.org

Did You Know?

The Matty Fund is the only epilepsy resource center located in Rhode Island.  Since 2003, The Matty Fund has helped hundreds of children living with epilepsy through workshops, family events, research, medical lectures, scholarships, and camps. Our programs are designed to raise awareness and to help children and families living with epilepsy.

All Matty Fund programs and resources are provided free of charge. We never want money to be an obstacle for parents and caregivers seeking to take advantage of our programs.

The revenue from donations, sponsorships, grants and events provide the resources needed to continue the  programs people have come to rely on. But it takes more than money. Thanks to generous volunteers, we have the people power to make all our programs happen. We thank you for your past support and hope we can rely on you in the future. Together we can make life better for children living with epilepsy!

Letter from our Executive Director...

Dear Friends,

Here at the Matty Fund, we pride ourselves on being the leading, nonprofit resource and support system in Rhode Island for those who have been touched by epilepsy. We work day in and day out to raise awareness for, and provide education about the illness, not only in Rhode Island but across New England. We are able to provide families with a variety of opportunities to better understand and live with epilepsy, through our programs like the Epilepsy Resource Center , the Discovering My Epilepsy support groups, and special events, such as the upcoming Pumpkin Festival.

None of this could be possible without the help and support of our community, which is why I am so pleased to announce that the Matty Fund was recently chosen by The Rite Aid Foundation as one of their KidCents charities. This program allows Rite Aid Wellness+ customers to round each purchase up to the nearest dollar and donate the extra change to a non-profit organization of their choosing. By selecting the Matty Fund as a KidCents charity, RiteAid is validating our role as the leading resource to local families whose lives have been touched by epilepsy.

As part of the round up program, The Rite Aid Foundation has also generously awarded us with a $10,000 KidCents grant, which was covered by NBC10, the Providence Business News, and the RI Small Business Journal.    This, along with the donations from charitable Rite Aid customers, will be an amazing opportunity for the Matty Fund to further our efforts in aiding families and children affected by epilepsy. The funds will open up a variety of opportunities, such as the ability to provide new and improved epilepsy education sessions, invest in new research methods to help combat epilepsy, and offer even more family-oriented services, workshops, and events.

In the weeks ahead we will provide more information about how you can join the Matty Fund's effort through the KidCents program and I hope that those who are able, will join us in supporting such an amazing cause. If you would like to start right away, you can do so by visiting the KidCents web page.  Please contact me with any inquiries about the Matty Fund or if you know of any families that need our help. As always, I can be reached at 401.789.7330 or Marisol@MattyFund.org.

I wish you all a very happy autumn, and hope to see you at some of our upcoming events this October.

Sincerely,

 Marisol Garcia
