The San Diego CITD launched its Export University series of workshops geared toward helping companies optimize their export potential and grow globally. The first session of the series, titled " Market Entry and Tax Strategies: Planning at Home and Abroad ", was held on February 14th at Southwestern College's Higher Education Center in National City and provided participants with information on how to manage market entry and tax risks associated with operating in foreign markets.

The workshop began with welcome remarks by San Diego CITD Director, Victor Castillo, and an overview of U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) programs and resources by Cynthia Harris, Economic Development Specialist with the San Diego District Office of the SBA, after which Jo-Renee Hunter, Managing Owner of Hunter Gauldon & Wilson, a Los Angeles-based firm specializing in business law and tax consulting, presented on the topic of the workshop.

CITD/DSN Kicks Off Part 2 of APICS CPIM Certification Courses

The San Diego CITD and  Deputy Sector Navigator for Global Trade and Logistics  (DSNGTL), in collaboration with the  San Diego Chapter of APICS ,  kicked off Part 2 of a two-part series of courses designed to prepare supply chain management professionals for the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification exams. APICS recently restructured its certification preparation courses, condensing the previous five learning modules and exams down to two, providing an opportunity for professionals to earn the certification in a shorter time frame. The Part 2 course began on February 21st and will be taught over the course of 13 weeks, with students meeting in the evenings once per week for a 3-hour class session at Southwestern College's Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa.


International Trade Payment and Financing Options


Selling internationally is not the same as selling in the domestic market. Knowing how to finance your export transactions and collect payment on your exported goods is crucial since your customers could be thousands of miles away.

If you are an existing exporter or are ready to export, this workshop will provide you with valuable information on payment options for your international sales and loan programs that can help you expand your business and compete in the global marketplace.

  • Balancing risk between buyer and seller
  • Selecting international payment options
  • Protecting against foreign exchange risk
  • SBA guaranteed loan programs to facilitate export transactions

CSCMP Power of Networking Event



Join the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) San Diego/Baja Roundtable for their Power of Networking event on March 14th. 

Targeted towards students and young professionals (but just as fun and engaging for all career levels), this supply chain take on the concepts of networking and speed dating allows small groups of participants to sit down with supply chain professionals to converse and ask questions on topics related to their experience in the field and in their career.  

With Supply Chain representatives from companies throughout the Greater San Diego, this event is not one to miss! Drinks and h'orderves will be provided.

MEXPORT 2018

Save the date for MEXPORT 2018, which will be held on April 26, 2018.

MEXPORT, organized by the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce, is the premier cross border business expo in the  Cali-Baja  region promoting trade and business opportunities.

This year MEXPORT will include Business-to-Business Executive Sessions between buyers from major manufacturers, service providers, and potential suppliers. These sessions will be included with booth registration.
