A Message from Cheri Gioe:

This past weekend, I had a couple of hours of free time and decided to watch a movie I have seen dozens of times, “You’ve Got Mail.” According to Wikipedia, “You’ve Got Mail” debuted in 1998.  That is just 18 years ago but seems like yesterday.  The characters, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are two of my favorite actors. In the movie, they meet online in a chat room and develop a very strong and special relationship.

I could not help but compare the “You’ve Got Mail” characters’ courtship to that of our relationship with God.  We can’t see him, but we talk with him.  We can’t see him, but we take his advice.  We can’t see him, but we love him.  Sometimes in our relationship with God, we question him.  Sometimes in our relationship with God, we get angry with him.  Sometimes in our relationship with God, we feel abandoned.  But, just like characters in “You’ve Got Mail” we always go back to the “chat room” and seek God’s guidance.

Many people have to continually remind themselves that God is there for them.  May I challenge you this week, to visit a “chat room” with God.  He is there and wants to develop a strong and special relationship with each one of you!

In Christ,

Cheri Gioe

P.S.  I'd like to apologize as I failed to give credit to the University of Michigan's Symbolism Project in the October 6th newsletter article I wrote about hands.  In addition, while the goals associated with elementary athletics are universal, the list of things athletes learn from sports that was shared in the Sept. 29 newsletter was taken from Notre Dame's Play Like a Champion Program.
