Leaders Call for Immigration Reform
 
Business and civic leaders have kicked off the Reason for Reform campaign. Last week r epresentatives from dairy farms and restaurants in Wisconsin joined the Latino Chamber of Commerce at a press event at Centro Hispano to push for immigration reform. 

"Dairy farms and restaurants are particularly reliant on immigrant workers, and immigration reform is critical for business," said Mayra Medrano, Latino Chamber of Commerce President. She added, " The United States immigration policy has remained virtually unchanged since the 1960s and does not fit today's economy." Read more

Helland Selected as Up and Coming Lawyer by Wisconsin Law Journal

Murphy Desmond attorney and LCC board member  Alison Helland has been named to the list of "Up and Coming Lawyers" as published in the Wisconsin Law Journal. The honorees were nominated and chosen based on the following criteria:
*    On the fast track to making a significant impact on the legal profession
*    Represent determination in legal work, in community betterment, and in improving their own law firms
*    Have been practicing law for 8 years or less
Alison practices in the areas of business law, tax law and estate planning. All of the state's 2016 Up and Coming Lawyers will be honored at a dinner event in Milwaukee on September 22nd.

After 24 years of performing together, this will be the final performance for MadiSalsa, so you can't miss this one! Great dancing, eclectic food and the opportunity to connect with other people from diverse backgrounds draws an average of 3,000 people to the rooftop every Friday evening in August. These concerts were created to help break down racial barriers and bring people together for a night of free entertainment and dancing. Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chair; seating on the rooftop is limited. Lake Vista Cafe will be open for your enjoyment. Food vendors open and cocktails are available for purchase beginning at 5 p.m. Picnic baskets are welcome. Sorry, no carry in alcohol. Concerts will be moved inside in case of rain.  More

Kickin' It for Kids benefit for REACH-A-Child

REACH-A-Child's mission is to collect and provide books and drawstring backpacks to help first responders comfort children in crisis."Kickin' It For Kids" brings family, friends, coworkers and neighbors together for a fun-filled day of activities for the whole family. Concessions, silent auction, team registrations, sponsorships, and general donations benefit REACH-A-Child. This is a FREE event for the public. Activities include: fire trucks, ambulance, police car, motorcycles, state patrol and sheriff from 1-4pm, concessions, bouncy house, kids reading area, volleyball, and kids vs. first responders kickball game at 2pm. Mounted horse patrol 1-3pm. More
